About the Author Peter Oliver has been exploring the wilderness of southern New England since childhood. When he isn't pursuing a new outdoor adventure, he writes award-winning pieces on sports and the outdoors. A contributing editor at Skiing and Aspen magazines, his work has also appeared in Backpacker, Bicycling, Outside, the Boston Globe, and the New York Times. He is the author of several books, most recently Bicycling: Touring and Mountain Biking Basics, and is currently working on a guide to skiing around the world.
