I had borrowed a friends Fromers Hawaii guide on our last trip and knew I would want it again, but this time we're just doing Maui, so I bought my own this time. I am sure it will be very handy. The details on directions, especailly on the Road to Hana are excellent...right down to what mailbox to turn at to see waterfalls, etc.

Great guide book. Only 7 more days and we'll really put it to the test!

This guidebook isn't flashy, but has a lot of usable information; and it's well organized. I've been to Maui twice before, most recently in 2002, and am planning a trip later this year. Frommer's is accurate based on my experience. The 2010 version also appears to be up to the minute with current information. I definately reccommend taking this along.

Great info especially on the best beaches. The activity info was right on esecially when it came to scuba diving. The maps definately helped us get around the island. Worth the money.

I took this book and Maui Revealed to Maui this month, and liked Frommer's more.

Frommers was easy to reference & warned you about which hikes would be trespassing in Hana. It warned you about which areas are crowded and should be avoided. The restaurant recommendations are spot on, as usual, categorizing each restaurant by price range.

Of the two guidebooks on Maui that I ordered, this one is quite useful, but not my favorite. The suggested itineraries were helpful, and I liked the information about the walking tour of Lahaina. However, the book feels a bit too general in parts, and the included map is really not detailed enough.

If you have been to Maui already don't buy this book. You know more than what is in here. Nothing new to me and I have only been there once.

I have in the past purchased Hawaii Revealed books and found them to be very useful. But, for my recent Maui trip, I bought the Frommers Maui 2009 book. It didn't have as many maps as I would like (compared to the Maui revealed book), and it was not as detailed. Example, when it says a "short hike", I wished it would specify how many miles or feet it was because a short hike for one person is not a short hike to another. I also found that the Frommmers book did not have as many "real" opinions. Sometimes I want a "real" recommendation as to what is recommended or if it is not worth my time. It seems that they are not at liberty to say such things so as to not make anyone upset. Restaurant recommendations were not that great!
