I selected this guide book because it includes areas which the guide books I normally use didn't cover. I am going to Michoacan this trip and this is a large empty space in most guide books. This book is a good starting point for travelers who haven't been to Mexico much. It can't cover anything in detail but it gives a sample of all areas of the country. Combined with a healthy amount of research into the parts that interest you it can be a useful tool.
It has a mix of standard offerings and a few suggestions which are just off the beaten track enough to make you feel like you're an explorer. Guide books in general become dated quickly new places open, old ones change ownership or close, Frommers updates every year They lack flashy pictures but the maps and lists of places to see, eat at,and sleep at are accurate for the areas I have already been to. Consider this book an adjunct to your on-line searches
