4.0 out of 5 stars Not a bad guide
If you're looking for a nitty gritty guide to Montreal, this will probably do. I'd recommend purchasing the Fodors Montreal and Quebec City 2008 in place of this guide. It is much more readable, has interesting tidbits on area history and includes a better layout.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good, overall guide, but lacking on dining options
This is a great guide for those who haven't yet been to Quebec City. It gives general information on the top sites, hotels and dining in the area. I would have liked to see, however, more dining options and a larger section on traveling to Quebec City with kids. This is a great guide for those who haven't yet been to Quebec City. It gives general information on the top sites, hotels and dining in the area. I would have liked to see, however, more dining options and a larger section on traveling to Quebec City with kids. Also, there is a whole vacation rental business in the city, mostly apartments, that is a great way to travel and less expensive than hotels. The guide never even mentions this option.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent hints, August 13, 2007
We just returned from our trip to the Quebec province and the guide was very useful and informative, not only on the sites, but also on restaurants, activities and others. The only thing it should contain and did not is information on the area's national parks and other nature areas of interest, which info we found locally from tourist info centers.

Overall very good and useful.

5.0 out of 5 stars Terrific Reference for Travelers, April 23, 2007
We planned a trip and traveled to Montreal and Quebec. While we often rely on our GPSr to give us landmarks, places of interest, and dining spots, we found this guide was indispensable for giving more detail than we could get from the GPSr, and enabled us to make good choices for our eating and sightseeing. We also chose a splendid Hotel in Vieux Quebec that was both a bargain and a delight worth many times the price of a night.

The price of the book will be returned many times over in the quality of experiences you have while visiting Montreal and Quebec!

5.0 out of 5 stars Frommers is terrific!, September 16, 2008

This review is from: Frommer's Montreal & Quebec City 2008 (Frommer's Complete Guides) (Paperback)
We started using Frommer's guides over 20 years ago and continue to be extremely pleased with them! We like to research places we go before we leave home and these guides make that job so much easier! They have always proven very valuable and well worth their cost. This Frommer's guide on Montreal and Quebec is as terrific as I expected it to be.

1.0 out of 5 stars Good for the listings, not for the "in-depth" coverage, June 7, 2006
I was quite disappointed by this Frommer's, I have used their series on numerous trips abroad and have found them quite informative. Being from Montreal, I found the initial section on Quebec history and culture very inaccurate and biased against the French-speaking majority. Now I question the accuracy of all the cultural information I read in the other books I bought. I give it 4 stars for the section on what "to do" and 1 star on the section aiming at educating readers on the culture and history of the place they are going to visit. The books recommended will probably give the reader an even more negative view of the French majority, none of which are written by the latter.
