Food and Beverage Highlight: Peck, Milan

Take Italy's fervent food culture and marry it to Milan's exquisite fashion and design aesthetic and presto!, you've got Peck, the world's most upscale delicatessen. Actually, "delicatessen" is a pretty feeble term to apply to this four-story food showcase. Over the years it's developed into a sleekly stylish and pricey showcase devoted to the foods of Italy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nearly Always Reliable, January 12, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I've always liked Frommer's, mainly because the books are well-organized and provide a great overview and starting point. The attractions are clearly explained, with hours, admission fees, restrictions, & considerations. The hotel suggestions are generally good, though usually a little on the more expensive end, and in lieu of internet I find them generally reliable.
It can be a little dry and a little mainstream, but their books are usually updated with good regularity & is good for planning your sightseeing and transportation. More detailed information on ferries & hydrofoils (not just from Frommers but guide books in general) would be nice!

4.0 out of 5 stars good overview of Northern Italy, January 6, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
We found this book very useful in our recent travels especially for sights and dining. Did not agree with some of the hotel reviews so consider comparing to another guide book.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good, but the contents section needs improving, September 4, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I've slated Frommers France for not having a contents section and when you're reading a digital version of a travel book it's unforgiveable to not have one. It's not like you can flip through the pages as you would a physical book. Without a contents section you're reduced to methodically advancing each page until you find what you want (which may even be at the back of the book). Frommers have at least tried to provide a contents section for this digital travel book but it is woeful. I mean, how much investment is really necesary in creating a visually-appealing, easy-to-negotiate contents section. This one looks like it's been designed by a computer-programmer - all function, no finesse...not even spacings or type-size to differentiate between the splurb of clickable contents. It's like some-one backed a dumpster up and offloaded the entire contents section in a heap. It's hard to read, hard to negotiate...but, hey, it's there. Woeful. But the travel content is good. Wake up Frommers and spend more than an hour of some apprentice-in-the-back-room's wages on providing digitally readable content.
