Book Description

Frommer's Complete Guides March 29, 2001
You'll never fall into the tourist traps when you travel with Frommer's. It's like having a friend show you around, taking you to the places locals like best. Our expert authors have already gone everywhere you might go -- they've done the legwork for you, and they're not afraid to tell it like it is, saving you time and money. No other series offers candid reviews of so many hotels and restaurants in all price ranges. Every Frommer's Travel Guide is up-to-date, with exact prices for everything, dozens of color maps, and exciting coverage of sports, shopping, and nightlife. You'd be lost without us!

With Frommer's in hand, you'll explore the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, and Ben Franklin's home. But you'll find a lot more than history and old buildings in Philadelphia. Its smart City Center core is a stroller's paradise, with restored Georgian and Federal structures that house sleek shops and fine restaurants. It's a city filled with art, crafts, music, and cuisine for every taste, and Frommer's will show you its highlights and hidden pleasures.

We'll also take you to nearby Valley Forge, and to the Brandywine Valley, where you'll explore the world-renowned Longwood Gardens and the Winterthur Museum. Then it's off to the Amish Country, a quietly beautiful region of rolling hills, old-fashioned farms, covered bridges, antique shops, and towns where simple pleasures still hold sway and life moves at a slower pace.
