About the Author

About the authors A native of North Carolina, Darwin Porter was a bureau chief for the Miami Herald when he was 21, and later worked in television advertising. A veteran travel writer, he wrote Frommer's first-ever guide to Italy, and he's been a frequent traveler in Italy ever since. He's joined by Danforth Prince, formerly of the Paris bureau of The New York Times, who has lived and traveled extensively in Italy. This team writes a number of best-selling Frommer guides, notably to Italy, England, France, the Caribbean, and Germany. Thomas Worthen and Robert Ullian, who are responsible for the walking tours of Venice in this book, are co-authors of walking tour books to Venice. Thomas Worthen is an art historian specializing in the Italian Renaissance. Robert Ullian also authors two Frommer's guides to Israel.
