About the Author

A Denver-based freelance writer, Eric Peterson has authored numerous Frommer's guides covering the American West, including Frommer's Montana & Wyoming and Frommer’s Colorado, as well as Ramble: A Field Guide to the U.S.A. and other Ramble titles for Speck Press (www.speckpress.com). Peterson also writes about travel and other topics for ColoradoBiz,Westword, and several in-flight magazines. In his free time, he’s an avid camper, skier, and hiker; a lifelong Broncos fan; and a part-time rock star (at least in the eyes of his niece Olivia and nephews Mitch and Sam).

More About the Author

Born and raised in Colorado, Eric Peterson started traveling as a newborn child on his way back from the hospital. Numerous family road trips ensued, often with comedic effect.

Eric started writing when he was four, covering such stories as an anthropomorphic hammer fighting similarly humanoid nails and a bipedal polka-dotted gator-like creature named Erg.

He first got paid to write in his early twenties when he landed a freelance gig on a Frommer's book. That was 1995. As of 2010, Eric has written dozens of travel guides, mostly Frommer's titles, as well as his own Ramble Guides series of books: Ramble: A Field Guide to the U.S.A. (2006), Ramble Colorado (2008), Ramble California (2009), and Ramble Texas (2010).

Eric has also written for numerous magazines and newspapers during his career, including the Denver Post, Westword, the New York Daily News, United Hemispheres, Delta Sky, ColoradoBiz, Arthur Frommer's Budget Travel, and Nintendo Power. Frommer's Utah was great! we spent the week after christmas skiing at Alta- rated one of the best by Frommer's and i'd have to agree. the second week of our trip we spent in moab, and the book gave great hiking, camping, and driving directions for canyonlands, arches, dead horse state park, natural bridges national monument, and monument valley. what a trip!!!

All of Frommer's books are good this one is no exception. I did not need the entire state review, and as expected a lot of print went to salt lake and Salt Lake City. I was more interested in the southern portion of the state, which was under reviewed.

This is a good general book if you intend to make a wide ranging tour of Utah and National and State Parks/Monuments and other sires. It is light on specifics but will help you locate areas of interest and accommodations in those areas. However, for specific information on hiking and unusual sites you will need other references.

I used the Kindle edition while driving through the parks in Utah and to Salt Lake City. We were well served by this book's recommendations, and I would definitely buy it again.

Purchased for a recent trip and found it to be an excellent resource to carry on my Kindle. Got good tips on sights to see in Salt Lake City, Moab, Arches Nat'l Park and Canyonlands Nat'l Park. Yes, you can find many of these tips on the internet, but carrying a Frommers on my kindle gives me access to helpful tips whenever needed.
