This review is from: Frommer's Vietnam: With Angkor Wat (Frommer's Complete Guides) (Paperback)
While this guide is good at listing or providing facts about various sites, its recommendations are often catered to the outlandishly flamboyant traveler (who spends more than $100 a night for a hotel in Vietnam, and who spends more than $10 for a meal????). Its restaurant choices and attraction ratings I found to be ridiculous. After a few days, I knew the places Frommer's recommended were more than likely the places to avoid. Perhaps this book is just for a very different traveler than myself, but I was very disappointed with this one. I was quite please with Frommer's Japan, Egypt, and Hong Kong btw.

One look at pp. 480-485 and you'll realize there's something VERY wrong with the conversational essentials. The intricacies of Vietnamese spelling, diacritical and pronunciation marks are completely lost in an editing lapse. It's completely misleading and unusable for anyone visiting Vietnam, as well an insult to both traveler and native speaker. And what kind of advice is "take it easy on the 'nuoc mam'"?
