5.0 out of 5 stars More "REAL" music, thank you...
firehose delivers plain stripped down suburban folk-tinged garage rock that simply ebbs and flows, forcing you to tap your foot and occasionly stomp.

Great roadtrip music!

Great music like this is a rare find if you're tired listening to good old classic rock and cannot stomach the over-hyped, over-produced, MTV/VH1/American Idol no-talent fad...

1.0 out of 5 stars What a disappointment
fIREHOSE's debut "Ragin, Full On" was a masterpiece. This is their third release, and how the mighty had fallen. There are definitely some gems on this album ("Riddle of the 80s," the leadoff track, is about the highlight), but it has too much spieling by Mike Watt, unfocus lyrics, it's sloppy (in a bad way), it's flat and it makes you feel empty...

Buy Rage'n fullon and Double-Nickels on the dime as well as some Afghan Whigs and Screeming trees, load up the Ipod, hit the road and don't look back

5.0 out of 5 stars Brings back memories . . ., August 24, 2000
This review is from: Fromohio (Audio CD)
I remember sitting around the pool listening to this album over and over. I have to agree that "Riddle of the 80s" is one of the weaker tracks on the album, although, like pizza and sex, bad fIREHOSE is still pretty damn good. I don't understand how it's possible to get tired of Mike Watt wailing on the thunderbroom, but like the Scot, I'm just an Iowaboy who don't know nothin' about nothin'. And sometimes bagpipe music ain't half bad.

5.0 out of 5 stars Masterpiece!, August 27, 2008

Almost twenty years old and still as fresh as ever! One of the most unique bands of the eighties and nineties!

A hard band to put a label on. Who cares! They sound great on this one. Funky, fun and powerful!

This is just an amazing record, I think this is my all time favorite record by any band! I could write a 1000 words on how amazing this record is, but listen to it yourself if you don't believe me. The record have a very personal feel to it that is hard to describe.

5.0 out of 5 stars Can't put the fire out!, August 7, 2000
This review is from: Fromohio (Audio CD)
fROMOHIO is perrenially excellent, along with all firehose albums. I have all of them on vinyl from my time at uni in good ol New Zealand. However they are buried somewhere at my parents place. When I came across two of the old faves on CD in a bargain bin I eagerly snapped them up and hurried home, palms sweating, to spark my synaptic gaps once more with thalamus stimulating aural ecstacy, known as fIREHOSE !!. Don't listen to any no-nothing plebian spack who gives any firehose album one star. Shame on you, young whippersnapper! To all other reviewers, I hail you in knowing communion.

I never get tired of Firehose, and this CD is one of my desert island discs, as is Ragin' Full On and Flyin' the Flannel. All their stuff is great. Mike Watt is an awesome bassist. If I could sound half as good as him, I'd consider myself lucky. Cool lyrics as always, just a great cd.

5.0 out of 5 stars ...Gush of Memories Please!, November 29, 2000

This review is from: Fromohio (Audio CD)
FromOhio takes me back to some of the best moments of high school in Columbus, Ohio. A week ago Mike Watt played here in San Diego which made me remember my love for Firehose. How could I forget this amazing album? Who knows.... But re-discovering it has been a God send! If you doubt me, just listen to the tracks provided here at Amazon and feel the eighties return to your soul.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of their Best, June 24, 2000

Ignore the one star rating by the other fella. This along with Ragin' Full On is the best of the Firehose albums.

Don't miss it...

Also the first song "Riddle of the 80's" is the one song I usually skip. The rest of the album is peak Firehose.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sooo underated., August 30, 2010

One of my favorite bands of all time. Their stuff sounds as good now as it did 20 years ago when I first started listening to them. One of the most unique and imaginative groups to ever come down the pike.

4.0 out of 5 stars the ED album from firehose, November 9, 2005
This review is from: Fromohio (Audio CD)
This is minutemen minus singer/guitar D Boon, who died in a car accident c1985. They got this 'Ed Fromohio' who had no musical background.

I interviewed mike watt the next year when flyin the flannel came out. He described this as Ed's album (their neophyte guitarist/singer), while flannel was his/Watt's album.

This music makes sense though. Minutemen were fans of CCR and BOC and other unapologetic pop rock from the 70s, and that is what this sounds like. Simple acoustic tinged rock music. This album is not that consistent, but when it hits, it is as good as it gets for minutemen or firehose.
