the knife it self is awesome. i don`t know what other are saying about it deployment..the knife is very very fast deploying does not need oil or something like that..the knife itself is very beautiful and has a very strange look. this knife is very good quality. The locking mechanism is good..even if it is not locked it need a very little force with your thumb. If you cant afford the O.T.F knifes wich cost 300$ (like i do) than this knife is freaking awesome.
I only have one warning to those people who had never used such i knife.. i was playing with it learning how to deploy and close it with one hand. and soddenly i could not and decided to quickly help with my left hand and i accidentally let off the slider (i almost had it closed on the half way) and it went right in my hand.i wont go through details but the cut was deep.. that was e good lesson. now i know that this knife is sufficiently dangerous. but steel o love it. all my friend loved it. i recommend you this knife but for few days until you learn how it works be careful.

not as easy of deployment as I thought,

Very nice knife once opened. That being said it is not an easy knife to open. Once you unlock the safety which is easy to do you have slide the whole knife to the very end of your hand to open it by pushing with your thumb hard towards the opening end of the knife. The problem is you can only hold the knife with two fingers while pushing with your thumb, which makes it hard to hold on to the knife plus very difficult to deploy quickly in and emergency situation. I tried oiling the knife after reading other reviews with no change in the amount of pressure needed to deploy the blade. S&W's other spring assisted side opening knife was much earlier and felt stable in one hand while opening. I still like this knife it just won't be the first one I reach for when needed.

Nice for the price,

Nice knife for the price. It took mere minutes to sharpen and has held a good edge so far. My only complaint would be that the locking mechanism doesn't work like its supposed to when the blade is extended.

Blade extends really quick for an assisted spring. Blade is solid once extended, and its lightweight so it makes up for the thickness of the handle.

Useful, but flawed,

It's a useful little knife for the price, but with problems. The two safeties do not work smoothly and make the knife difficult to close. Can't be done one-handed, which is, after all, the point of an A/O. One reviewer mentioned that it's awkward to open, and it is, a bit, but is easier once you get used to it. I'll use it, but not recommend it. Won't be an EDC.

This is the second knife I am buying. As soon as I showed it to a friend, he started drooling on it so much that I offered it to him. I had then to get another one.
In short, this knife is sharp, very well built and impressive. The way the blade comes out with a fast and precise motion shows the quality of construction. I did remove one point from the top score because one has to pay attention when closing it down. It has a tendancy to not retract fully at the first try so the tip of the blade is still out enough to cut anything it touches. Not enough to hurt badly but still enough to cut yourself. Once you are aware of it, no problem. It still is a very nice buy.

A great knife. It arrived rather sharp and in good working order. I was worried that it would be bulky but it feels good in the hand and fits nicely in my pocket.

As stated before this is a nice knife for the price. Deploys fast, locks up nicely, blade is solid when extended, no slack what-so-ever. The only complaint if you could call it one is the slide was a little stiff out of the box. I put a little gun oil on the slide rails, worked it around by activating and retracting the blade. Now it feels almost prefect, you can slide the blade forward and retract it with one hand.
Its small enough (for me at least) to be a daily carry. With a little oil, the mechanism glides like a dream, as opposed to feeling like your shaving steel off the slide. Money well spent, for me at least. |
