Harmonica Rock Star Rocked the Festival,
By JaeCole "JaeCole" (Chicago, IL) - See all my reviews

Who knew that a "juice harp" could play the riffs of Stevie Wonder, the rock of Hendrix, and the soul of the Isleys in one set and make you believe you were hearing the originals? His covers will make you a believer. Highly Recommended!

Jazz/Blues Harmonica,

I have never heard a harp player with more feeling and more technical ability than Frederic Yonnet. I have many albums by Toots Theilmans and various blues harmonica artists from the 30's to the present. Toots is tecnically perfect, but I can find no match in blues or jazz for the feeling Frederic Monet puts into any work he plays. It will make the hair stand up on you neck.

Not As Good as Current Live Performances,

I recently (2009) heard Frederic Yonnet live over the radio at the Rosslyn, VA jazz festival and was amazed! I was hoping the CD would have some of that creativity and energy. His performance at the Rosslyn, VA jazz festival struck me as being truly a new voice on harmonica. Maybe it's because he's grown a lot as a muscian since the CD was recorded, or maybe the CD song choice isn't my cup-of-tea, but I do not find the CD engaging.
