Product Description

Jess McElroy has always wanted to write front-page news, but she becomes front-page news when a stalker disrupts her life. The suspects include her ex-boyfriend who can't seem to let go of her. Then again, her new boss Parker Montgomery has a secret past that might spell trouble for Jess. When the person hounding her becomes more dangerous, Parker insists that she move in with him for protection. Both Jess and Parker are determined to keep their growing attraction in check, but as the peril increases, so do the sparks between them.

Editorial Review:
"Ms. Campbell writes from knowledge, using her newspaper background as setting in this sweet yet spicy romance. The author's authentic southern voice is reflected throughout the tale, adding an extra layer of nuance.
Jess McElroy is an everywoman, easily recognizable. Readers can step into her shoes and see through her eyes, making the terror she feels when events spiral out of control all the more believable.

This review is from: Front Page News (Kindle Edition)
I didn't realize this was a romance novel. After I read it, I went back and reread the blurb & realized I should have known. So, that was my fault. I don't usually read romance novels, but I was well into the book before I realized it, so I went ahead and finished it. So, keep in mind that this review is written by someone who is not a fan of romance novels.

Strengths:

It did take me quite a few pages before I realized this was a romance novel. The opening chapters were indicative of just a good, solid mystery.

The story line here was interesting with a well-thought out plot to keep you guessing until the very end.

The writing was good as far as grammar, etc.

The sex in the book was tastefully done. Unlike a lot of romances, I wasn't left feeling like I had read a porno.

Weaknesses:

First of all, the Kindle formatting was messed up to the point of distraction. About 1/2 or more of the book was in italics. Also, there were various typographical type errors throughout, such as the word "a" missing, etc.

A few things about the story progression bothered me. Now, I realize this is a romance novel, but I could not imagine getting a job & then going to my boss' HOUSE on the first night of it, regardless of the reason. Yet, not only did the main character do so, but she knew right where he lived.

I also can't imagine someone moving in with their new boss after only 3 or 4 days working for him, for any reason. The main character had just gotten out of a bad relationship with her old boss, then after only 4 days, is living with her new one; I think they slept together soon after. It just made the main character seem phenomenally stupid, which, with her job, I would think she was a bit smarter than that.

Will appeal to:

People who like light romance novels with a little mystery thrown in.

More About the Author

My interest in writing began when I was nine-years-old, though I don't think I realized the significance of what I was doing. I started out with stories about the family dogs. I compiled these stories into my own version of a newspaper, which I called The Belvedere Press (after the cartoon dog, Belvedere).
The first thing I was ever paid to write was a weekly newspaper column called Scenes From Real Life. I wrote this column for my hometown newspaper for four years. It was very popular in my community, so I branched out and wrote similar non-fiction stories for larger regional newspapers and magazines.
I began writing fiction in my early twenties, choosing the romance genre because that was what I enjoyed reading.
