After the sails were still and the nets had been reeled in, the Norman sailors and fishermen would pull out their dice and play Shut-The-Box. Authentic wood tiles and dice give this Front Porch Classics® game its old-world charm. Roll the dice and lay down any combination of tiles that match your roll. Keep rolling until you can't match your roll on the remaining tiles. Low score wins; lay down all the tiles and you've "shut the box."

I purchased this game to play for my Pirate-themed family reunion. I was uncertain as to how "fun" this would be when I first took it out of the box, but once I started to play, it was quite fun. I have a two-year-old son who likes to call out the numbers and as he gets older, it will assist him in counting as well. It's a simple game that can be played by a group of people or just by one. I like the fact that you can keep it out and anyone passing by can give it a go. It's a quick game for some immediate gratification. Once you play it a while, you can try new strategies to "Shut the Box." The construction of the box is stellar and it looks like a "real" seaworthy item! This Pirate Wench gives it a hearty Arr! and two thumbs up!

This game is both fun and educational. It's pretty enough to keep on the coffee table - and it gets opened quite often by any of the parents/kids. It has even gone into school for "rainy day" recess - the teachers love it becuase it does use those addition math facts.

If there is any "family" on your Christmas list - consider this as a gift that will be enjoyed indefinitely!
