After receiving the product and opening it I found that it was not quite what they had pictured in the advertisement. First the shakers look like something a 6 year old made in art class. They look more like a clay change holder then a dice shaker. where as the picture look to me like standard 3 inch oval shakers. Then their are dice themselves they are so small that the 6 side is almost completely blacked out with dots. The only cool thing about this game is the giant Dice carrying case thing.

Lots of fun for the whole family. Even the little ones enjoy this. I bought this game for my own family. The wife and kids went to a friends house, who liked it so much they kept it! So of course I immediately bought another one. Liar's Dice was popularized in the Pirates of the Caribbean movie, but it has nothing really to do with pirates or movies. It's just a dice game. Easier for the little ones to play than poker. Much fun. Highly recommended.

Liar's Dice is a fantastic game that can be played with up to 4 people. I purchased this game for a friend after we played it with two of the actors at the MD Renaissance Festival over lunch. The game doesn't take up much space and it can be played anywhere where there is a flat surface. The point of the game is to decide how many of dice of a particular face value are on the table at a given time and then determine who is bluffing and who actually has the dice to back up their claim. The rounds are short and it can easily be adjusted for 'house rules' if you don't like the rules that come with it. The game you see pictured is not actually how the game comes. When we opened the container for the game we played, 2 of the dice were poorly inked and the cups were the imitation-clay version that look like small cups. The ones pictured in the image here look much better. The cups we got fit inside each other so that they are easy for transport and storage, which is really the only difference. Even though it was not as pictured, we loved the game and the inconsistency of the image did not detract from the fun we have playing the game.

For Christmas, I bought a friend of mine this brand of Liar's Dice, except I bought it at Barnes and Noble in store. Since I liked his version of the game, I was happy to find the same brand on Amazon but for $5 less than at B&M.When I purchased it from Amazon, I was stunned at how different it was. The cups are plastic and lined with felt, and the outside has stickers on it that are falling off. They are hideous and very low quality. I was expecting clay cups with the design etched into them because that's what I purchased before. The box itself does not close all the way, either. The box also was slightly damaged on the edges when it arrived, but I cannot say whether this is from the manufacturer or shipping. Others have commented on the quality of the dice, but I did not even play a game before I decided to return this to Amazon. Overall, I was disappointed because it was of inferior quality as what I purchased for my friend just a few months earlier. That said, I look forward to finding a higher quality version of the game because it is a GREAT game to play with friends.

This is a great game!!! So much fun for the whole family. We even had a 7 year old playing, and with just a little help, he did great! New family favorite!! Bonus-we bought it on Amazon for under $5 and recieved it in just 2 days(right before Christmas). I looked for it in local stores, but they either didn't carry it or were out of stock, good thing because it was $20 there! It might be worth even $20 though, we played it quite a few times during the holidays!

I purchased this version of Liar's Dice as a Christmas gift last year and it has been a favorite go-to game ever since! My kids were first introduced to this game by the Pirate's of the Caribbean version at a family member's house, but I thought this version had more lasting appeal for my teenagers. My kids ages range from 8-17 and they all enjoy a good game of calling each others bluff. Even as adults my husband and I thoroughly enjoy fooling other players with our sincere looks and better bluffing skills. A very fun way to spend a little family time. Each game takes less than 10-15 min to play so it doesn't become tiring like many board games, and is perfect for fitting in a little fun when time is short. A very fun game for all ages and the most fun you'll ever have calling someone a liar!

This is an old drinking game we used to play in college. It is basically a bluffing game and it is so fun to play. The game is a classic and is easy to learn. I read the reviews and I have to say that my game looks awesome. I receive compliments anytime I break it out at a gathering. The cups are good quality resin? material The storage box is really neat and provides storage for the game so it is easy to take it with you. I recommend this item (especially for a college student) LOL

I ordered this because the picture showed the dice cups to be a soft oval shape that I could store easily and they wouldn't hurt my table by all the turning of the cups. When this arrived, it what not what was pictured. I received 4 SHORT ROUND dice cups of 2 DIFFERENT sizes made of a very thick hard plastic. Also one of the dice was missing which I cannot find as they are of a very small size.

I was lazy and didn't read the reviews first. Shame on me! You get what you pay for here. The shakers are small and the dice much smaller than standard dice. The shakers do seem quite fragile as I expected a softer cup, more like a faux leather. I will make this a Secret Santa gift and simply buy 4 regular dice cups.

When I first opened it, I thought the dice were a little small at 7/16", but my second thought is that they are the right size for the game. Mine came in a fairly heavy tie-top canvas bag.The shaker cups I received are wood, not plastic like the item description says. They are a nice dark walnut color, and seem quite sturdy. The insides are not smooth, but not disturbingly rough either. I actually found them to be a nice surprise. Two small details to note about the hinges - my game came with one extra brass screw rattling around inside the box...I'm assuming it's a deliberate addition. It was nice for the manufacturer to think of, but it could have easily been lost if I hadn't heard it while I was trying to figure out how to open the outer cardboard box (which opens from the side). Also, when the lid is open, it lays flat, not tilted up like in the photo. Probably irrelevant, but might affect your display options. And you will probably want to display this game on your coffee table, just like it says on the box, as it is a very neat little item. Overall quality: 5 stars. I can't rate the enjoyment value, as I haven't played it yet - I bought it mainly as a unique display piece. |
