This is one of the best researched books I have ever read about Texas History. The author had access to family writings and I have been unable to find anything in the book that is not fact. The only fault I have is that she fails to mention the fact that the Powells (I suppose from her own branch of the Powells) were personal friends of the Parkers, including Silas, Daniel, and James W. For anyone who is a student of Texas history this book is highly suggested by me. Robert W. Powell Houston, Tx
