I bought the book thinking it would be a fun read about the trials, tribulations and fun aspects of ranch life on the northern plains perhaps including anecdotes about Charlie himself. Instead, it is a somewhat scholarly work comparing cattle ranching, customs and frontier life on both sides of the US - Canada border. It was not a fun read, and seemed strained to say that although things may have been somewhat different, they were mostly the same. Although there were a few references to, and quotes from Charlie Russell, the use of Charlie's name in the title and painting on the cover seemed to be more to take advantage of his name to help market the book rather than tell much about Charlie Russell. If you want to read this, look for it at the local library; it does not add much to the library.
