Very good hot ginger.

This ginger is much better than the grocery store kind, and given how much you get, way less expensive.

One bag goes directly into the freezer, and the other into a jar in the fridge.

This is the freshest and most flavorful powdered ginger I've ever purchased. My husband puts it in a beverage that he drinks for medicinal purposes, and he's very happy with it. It's a fraction of the price that you encounter at the supermarket for the volume, and worth the extra effort. One bag goes directly into the freezer, and the other into a jar in the fridge. Sure beats buying those little jars in the spice aisle.

A couple of years ago, I'd read that Ginger Tea has inflammation-reducing properties, & I've been perfecting delicious homemade Ginger Tea ever since.

Oddly enough, fresh Ginger Root is less effective than powdered Ginger, & it's definitely a more labor-intensive process, never mind the perishable component to contend with.

I liked name-brand grocery store powdered Ginger just fine, until trying Ginger from a gourmet spice shoppe ... then I was given Ginger purchased by a friend in India & I became a veritable snob about the very wide-ranging quality of powdered Gingers ... now that I've had the Frontier-brand ground Ginger, I'm hard-pressed to believe that there can be an even better one.

The IF Rating on powdered Ginger is +1447, meaning that it's strongly anti-inflammatory, & that's a very *good* thing for you, whether you know it or not.

--------------------------------------------------------------
FOR THOSE INTERESTED IN AVOIDING INFLAMMATORY FOODS, HERE'S A BRIEF PRIMER:

IF (INFLAMMATION FACTOR) RATING
The IF (Inflammation Factor) Rating(tm) estimates the inflammatory or anti-inflammatory potential of individual foods or combinations of foods by calculating the net effect of different nutritional factors, such as fatty acids, antioxidants, & glycemic impact.

How to interpret the values: Foods with positive IF Ratings are considered anti-inflammatory, those with negative IF Ratings are considered inflammatory. The higher the number, the stronger the effect.

The goal is to balance negative foods with positive foods so that the combined rating for all foods eaten in a single day is positive.

I'm very pleased with this ginger - very fresh tasting, which is important since I use it mainly in beverages. The cheaper stuff just doesn't have the "bite" that this stuff does. Excellent!

It comes packed in two one pound foil packs, so it should stay fresh for some time. It's a lot of ginger, but if you work out the cost per ounce, it's much cheaper than the smaller containers of quality ginger, and even a bit cheaper than the generic stuff you can buy at a discount (but worlds better in terms of taste).

Highly recommend.

Recipes often call for a substitution ratio of 1 to 6 for using ginger root as opposed to ginger powder. This powder is fresher than others I've tried, so that ratio won't apply. It's fresh and penetrating.

Besides the great taste, the benefits of ginger are vast. In some studies, forms of ginger have been effective against a variety of cancers in mice. The show, Mythbusters, ran a segment to debunk so-called remedies for motion sickness. Mythbusters found that ginger is effective against motion sickness even while many others remedies were not. Ginger has been used to treat constipation, colic, gastroparesis, dyspepsia, inflammation, coughing spells and soothe upset stomachs.

There are warnings against taking too much ginger in powdered form, mainly because it's possible to consume more using the powder. The FDA warns that too much powdered ginger can cause intestinal blockage, gas, belching, and that it's contraindicated for those suffering from gallstones because it promotes bile production.

There is no end to ways of using powdered ginger in cooking and mixing in foods and beverages. One of the famous juicing drinks is made from carrot, orange and ginger.

I recommend this item for its freshness and economy, not to mention that ginger is so beneficial in one's diet.

The product is so versatile and flavorful. I use it to make instant ginger tea, also to cook Asian style dishes or bake delicious cookies. I trust Frontier, they always carry high quality products, non irradiated and sulfur-free.

Very aromatic and flavorful. Not preserved with sulfites, so you should probably freeze what you can't use immediately.

Good sturdy bags that are supposed to be resealable, but mine were manufactured incorrectly so that they can't be opened without destroying the zipper closure. Plan on having a separate container ready unless you have a use for a pound of ginger all at once.

5 stars for the ginger, minus a star for the defective bags.

Ginger is one of my new favorite spices.
Put some on chicken, steak, burger.
Mix with bbq sauce or a honey glaze and I'm in heaven.
Also good mixed with beverages like tea.
A versatile and outstanding herb that no kitchen should be without.
Recommended.
