I have recently got on a health kick - if I had a salad in the past, I would use bacos or even fry up some real bacon without a thought. I heard some of the chemicals in Bacos are really bad for you - but a salad without some kind of bacon just wasn't enticing to us, so I tried this since we're now trying to eat salad every day at dinner.

I was almost afraid to use it - the color isn't like bacos at all, it's lighter...and we are far from being vegetarians. But it really added bacon flavor to the salad - so much so I can give up the bacon and bacos. It's not as crunchy and hard as bacos - but they definitely add enough crunchy consistency. My husband says they are ok, he'd rather have real bacon (even over bacos - he always said bacos were just 'ok' too) - but he likes them. This will now become a staple in our house!

I have tried several brands, but find these the most versatile and tasty. I use them to flavor soups, salads, baked potatoes and also in cooking. I make my own seitan and will put much of the bottle in it to create "fake ham" or other smokey options.
Best of all, it's guilt free for our animal friends and our planet, and it's so much healthier than eating bacon.

These are the worst I've ever had! There is a strong chemical odor and chemical taste. The aftertaste is just plain nasty!

I purchased these "Soy Bacon Bits" after searching for quite some time. I have bought Soy Bacon Bits in the past (Different brand I can no longer find) and quite liked the size and taste. These, however, are more like a tasteless powder. Maybe I received a bad bag of them but most of the "bits" are smaller than 1/16". Based on what I received I would not recommend.

Although I'm vegetarian/borderline vegan, my boyfriend is a meat eater (trying to "eat better"). His review is probably more telling than mine. While I love them, I haven't had bacon in about ten years and didn't really know exactly what I was comparing these to anymore. His response was, "Wow, they taste just like bacon bits!"

We were given a VLT at my vegan brother's house by his vegan fiance - simply Bac'uns on toasted bread with lettuce, tomato, and Vayonnaise (an EXCELLENT vegan alternative to mayonnaise). It was so delicious that as soon as I got home I jumped on Amazon and order a three pack (and went to the health food store to buy Vayonnaise).

I've put these in/on several things from salads to potatoes to pizza. My dog and cats swarm me thinking I have meat, and my family and friends are shocked that it's just seasoned vegetable protein.

Bac'uns isn't just for veggies or vegans though - there's FAR LESS sodium, fat, and cholesterol than real bacon, so it's a wise switch to make for everyone.

Those supermarket bacon bits are GMO (Genetically Modified). Far Better to eat organic imitation bacon bits than those Frankenstein bacon bit creations!

I wasn't expecting the world from these things, but I wasn't that impressed.
I was hopping that these had a more bacony flavor. The flavor is good, and they go great with salad and other food for an extra tastiness, but I dont think that have a very bacony flavor. Well, I haven't had bacon for awhile, so I might be wrong, but maybe my expectations were too high.
These are definitely worth a try if your a vegan or vegetarian that is missing bacon bits; Just don't expect them to mimic dead animal bits too closely (which it probably a good thing) haha.

I have eaten these both in a variety of foods and by themselves so I could do a just review and try to figure out why some other ppl gave poor reviews... My findings were that this is a great 'flavoring compliment' to your foods, because they do have a strong smoke flavor to them. Much in the same way you wouldn't snort lines of cayenne, you don't want to pop these in your mouth on their own. I like this product, because it makes my food pop. I have mixed it in tuna salad to make my tuna wraps. Put it on top of baked potatoes, burger toppings, pizza toppings, soups. I just couldn't seem to go wrong and find an entree they didn't compliment. Healthy alternative to the real thing and frankly because the flavoring is more potent than the real thing, don't have to throw in as much, that alone lessens the calorie load. I have become a fan and it makes dieting that much easier, since it makes everything taste like bacon, this is a win win among carnivores and vegetarians alike!
