Frontline Spray not what it used to be.,
By
This review is from: Frontline Spray 500mL (Misc.)
When Frontline Spray was first brought out several years ago it was the most expensive product of it's kind on the market (that I knew of). But that didn't matter. It worked and it worked extremely well. The smell was mild and acceptable and the liquid was long lasting- up to six weeks or more. The dogs and cats I used it on soon began to accept the occasional sprayings with gratitude. The fleas would fall off immediately onto their little backs- stone cold dead. The ticks would dry up and could be brushed off by the next day or so. Fantastic. Everyone was happy. This was a product that although owned by a French company was manufactured in the U.S. and I presume France as well. But I seemed to get the U.S. product here in Texas. After a couple of years, and a couple of price increases, I noticed that the strength of the product was noticebly weaker than the original version. It seems that it gets weaker with each subsequent bottle that I buy. And yes, even though the miracle active ingredient has been cut repeatedly the price keeps going up. Now the fleas, at least a few of them, still fall off while spraying; but now, the little fellers just roll over, dust themselves off and promptly jump right back on the dog or cat. The ticks eventually get sick of the stuff after a few days and walk off to who knows where. Days and weeks later there are still a few fresh fleas and ticks that show up and ride around for a few days until I do a mild touch -up with the weak spray. This is the result from the product that I get now that is labeled as being manufactured in France. Seems they may be a tad greedy and getting more so. That's the only way I can explain it. The active ingredient is Fipronil. So, after years of wholeheartedly recommending the product, I'm back to recommending the strong and effective Adams Spray. It's far more cost effective. It's just that everyone involved hates the strong odor. But it works as well as it has for many years and the price won't bust your budget to the point where you have to be late on your next car payment just to get the danged fleas off your pet. Another product I've recently found to be very effective and relatively inexpensive, but labor intensive (depending upon your particular pets), is Zodiac Flea and Tick Shampoo for Dogs and Cats. It's effectiveness seems to last well for three to four weeks. Its active ingredients are Piperonyl Butoxide Technical and Pyrethrins. So, to sum up, the manufacturers of Frontline Spray have taken what was a wonderful product available at a high, but fair, price and tinkered with it until now it's a mediocre product with an outrageous price. Just one poor old Texan's opinion, Jerry Wallace

Frontline Spray, Large - 500 ml,
This review is from: Frontline Spray 500mL (Misc.)
This is a good product, I have tried many sprays for fleas, as this year we had a bad flea infestation, and I have to say this product did work better than most of the others I tried. The only downfall of this product is that its a bit expensive for the size you get.

Fleas abandon ship!,

Every few years we have a flea outbreak amongst our dog and four cats. Our veterinarian sends us home with Frontline drops which do not help us with current fleas as it takes several cycles to work, and most veterinarians do not carry the spray any longer. While the smell of the spray can be overwhelming, it gets the fleas off immediately! As you spray, the fleas surface and fall off the pet on to the floor. While the product claims that it is good for a month, we notice relief for about 7 - 10 days. During that time frame we will find new dead fleas on them that have hopped on from outside or from the carpets. This 7 - 10 day window gives you time, however, to do a fairly thorough house cleaning to get rid of the fleas. We do spray a second time which appears to eradicate all the fleas.

When all else fails, this does the job without the fleas/tick/chewing lice, having to bite the dog first.

I have had to edit my review, because like others,I found this product worked miracles in the past, but somehow seems less good now.
I have done everything to get rid of fleas on my cat.I'm not even sure how he got them because he never goes outside. We have flea bombed, and given countless flea baths. We even SHAVED our cat because he is Maine coon with VERY long fur that makes finding the fleas impossible. Money was tight, but I finally gave in and bought what used to be my Holy Grail of flea treatments, this frontline spray. I'm not going to say the product didn't work at all.We could see fleas dying on contact while we thoroughly sprayed our cat down. However,it hasn't seemed to do much with killing ones that hop on him a week after. Everytime I now check my cat with the flea comb,I'm still pulling multiple fleas off at a time and they don't seem to be hurting any. I don't know what else to do,so if anyone has any suggestion,I'm all ears. I can say that shaving my cat helped a lot.The fleas have nowhere to hide now since his fur is so short so I can just comb or pull them off whenever I spot one. Frontline spray used to be the very best flea treatment I could find. One time on our other cat was all it would take to kill fleas.Doesn't seem to be the case now.

problems with ticks on horses,
By
This review is from: Frontline Spray 500mL (Misc.)
We have several horses that were having problems with tick bites in sensitive areas that would then
develop into small but often painful abscesses. We have added Frontline spray applied to axillary, midline, and groin areas every 2 weeks to a regimen of topical insect repellant applied to their bodies and have seen a dramatic improvement.

We had a terrible flea infestation this year, and our poor Aussie/Border Collie mix was miserable! We tried a flea collar, flea bath, and daily brushing, and just couldn't keep up. My groomer recommended Frontline Spray, but I found it to be pretty expensive. I'm so happy that I thought to check out Amazon, because the price here saved me a ton of money! I bought the larger bottle for almost the same price the small bottle would have been at my vet's office. Great service, fast shipping, and a product that really works - who could ask for anything more!

I purchased this product because, unfortunately, I had several kittens this spring. This is the only product, that I know of, that can be used on such little guys. My Vet stated, one squirt per one pound of body weight. After their little Dawn dishwashing soap baths, this kept them flea free for a month. :-)

I have a golden retreiver and an alaskan malamute(neither of which like being sprayed) who both developed an itching/flea problem over the summer. I've used the squeeze tubes that go on between the sholder blades in the past when I just had one dog. With two, it seemed a bit expensive to treat both dogs. The spray seems to be awesome. Both dogs are now flea free, and no longer constantly itch! Good price, product works as advertised.
