Sunny Weather rises out of the fertile musical scene around Ithaca, heart of the famous Finger Lakes region of upstate New York. Drawing on the rich creative tastes in this area and incorporating roots rock, zydeco, and reggae, the music of Sunny Weather cultivates an Ithaca-flavored blend of old and new to produce a sound all its own.
Sunny Weather was started in December 1996 by Trevor MacDonald (guitar, accordion, vocals) as a trio playing all-original tunes. Over the next two years, the band evolved into a family of six musicians, bringing in Corey Small (guitar, vocals), English (drums), Chris Predmore (bass), and Jarrell T. Puryear (organ, keyboards, Scrubboard).
With a wide range of musical backgrounds, from formal training to self-taught experimentation, each individual adds strength and spice to the flavor of the whole. Soaring harmonies, upbeat rhythms, infectious melodies, and inspiring lyrics all mingle to make the music of Sunny Weather warm and heartening as well as a spirited celebration of life. Onstage, the band delivers a positive charge in a mix ready-made for dancing. The band's latest album venture began on New Year's Day 1999 when the band went into Electric Wilburland Studio to begin laying down tracks for the self-titled Sunny Weather. This CD was released on I-Town records, the independent showcase label for Ithaca bands founded by Kevin Kinsella of John Brown's Body.
With four recordings already in hand and a new CD on the way, Sunny Weather has built a following at an array of highly regarded festivals, playing in company with such greats as 10,000 Maniacs, Baba Olatunji, the Meditations, Ralph Stanley, Toots and the Maytals, the Del McCoury Band, and King Sunny Ade. In a highlight of the band's career, Trevor and Greg were called up onstage to jam with zydeco great Keith Frank at the 1999 Grassroots Festival. The band has also wowed crowds at such local events as the 1999 Ithaca Festival, where they brought the entire Infield audience up on their feet to dance. So strong was their performance at the past two Blue Heron Festivals that they are already invited back for Summer 2000. And they've held their own in selling CDs at festivals, too, being topped only by international stars Solàs at the Grassroots '99 CD sales booth. In addition, Sunny Weather was the only independent band to be featured on WVBR-FM's weekly "Artist Spotlight," an! honor previously reserved solely for major-label acts.
Beyond festivals, Sunny Weather is adaptable to many kinds of venues and events. Readily energizing audiences in an impressive roster of clubs, they play music for the people and typically perform for a mixed-age audience of folks seeking a break from this hectic world. The watchword of Sunny Weather is this: Come together and celebrate the song and dance which is ready to ring out in all of us!

Sunny Weather is a band that you must see live, but until you do or can, check out the Front Lines. A great sampling of their arsenal of zydeco dance grooves, hook-filled roots rock and jam-infused musicianship. This is the album to introduce you to this up and coming band. Feel the I-town vibrations come alive! A CD you'll want to play over and over.

I don't think there is any way Sunny Weather can go wrong with any song they write or sing.
