I attempted to learn FrontPage using the manual provided with the program. I soon gave up because I needed something to take me to the basics of the program. A few weeks later, I bought Dummies 101 and tried again. This time I was up and running quickly and painlessly. Step by step, it showed me how to put together a basic FrontPage web site. Chapter by chapter, I was adding images, tables, forms and more. Following my "graduation", I continue to refer back to the book for hints and help. The author has an uncanny ability to foresee common problems which face the novice. With impeccable timing she averts potential disaster with well-placed information in the "heads up" section. For those who pick things up quickly, the "extra credit" section provides additional challenges. The CD-ROM includes all the samples needed to work through the exercises in the book. If you are feeling intimidated about how to tackle FrontPage, this book i! ! s a great place to start. By the time you are finished, you will be a confident and competent FrontPage user.

This may be a great book for beginners; however, if you delved into publishing or maintaining pages using FrontPage, FrontPage 98 or even Notepad, this might be a little elementary, Watson. I give it a 'hold' and recommend a trip to the reality based bookstore for a real-time hands browse before giving out your credit card number over the Internet (horrors!).Again, it might be good, but I'm beyond what it has to offer... and haven't the time to review it, properly (just offering balance to the other reviews).

Asha Dornfest has done an excellent job of filtering out the technical jargon found in most "How To" computer books and presented the fundemental skills needed to get you up and running with this program. I give it an A++ The topics are clear, concise and on point. If you're new to FrontPage 98 this is the one book you need to help reduce the learning curve.
