Let me preface by saying that I've owned the 'USA made' version of this knife sharpening kit for over 20 years now and have been nothing but happy with the results I've had. Recently I had the thought to replace my old sharpening kit with a new one since the guide holes on my old kit were wearing out....as were the guide rods. What a mistake that turned out to be! This kit USED to be made in the USA....one guess where it's made now. Yep....China. Don't let the "100% U.S.A. design" fool you...it WAS designed in the US years ago but is MADE in China currently! And with most things made in China, this kit is half of what the original was. Shame on Frost Cutlery for selling out. I would rather they had raised the price on the kit than ship the production over to China where they could give two spits about quality control. I will pay for quality and this my dear friends is anything but...let me be the first to enlighten everyone on the changes. I'll add pictures to go along with the review.

#1 - The kit arrived all busted up right out of the box. The box was in great shape however. Odd...very odd.
#2 - Everything inside the broken case was in a shambles.
#3 - Two of the three stones had fallen apart, the glue holding the stone to the plastic did not hold.
#4 - The hole in the plastic part of the stones, where the guide rod inserts, was too small for the rod.
#5 - Same hole was not drilled all the way through so that when I did finally get the rod in (had to drill it to make it work)....tightening it made the rod skew upwards. Had to drill the hole in further myself too.
#6 - The clamp that holds the knife is far more inferior in quality to the original clamps used with this kit. You can feel the difference in weight....which was .45 oz. Yes.....I weighed them.
