This review is from: Frost On My Window (Indigo Love Spectrum) (Mass Market Paperback)
This book had a truly interesting premise; too bad the "male" lead of the romance was a footnote in the whole novel. This novel could have been so interesting; but I had to make myself finish it because I simply couldn't become interested in all the extra filler material concerning Leah's cousin and her work issues and that idiot that Leah maintained a crush on and his issues. I thought Sean was an imaginary character at first; because you heard alot about him but he didn't really have any significant appearance in the story until the last few chapters and the connection seemed forced to bring the story to an end. I normally don't mind when secondary characters have a strong presence in a storyline (because great secondary characters make great connecting stories); but this romantic story was missing a lot of the romance and could have been so much better.

This book SUCKS,
By
This review is from: Frost On My Window (Indigo Love Spectrum) (Mass Market Paperback)
This book was so bad I had to write a review. First of all I have a major problem with a book that is 300 pages long and the story does not START until page 230. Therefore, I had to read 230 pages of CRAP that had nothing to do with the very rushed ending we received. I felt like the author took me through the live of Rena for the first 230 pages and just left it hanging after that. Most of the information was useless. Poor Sean one of the MAIN characters was in the back seat the entire time. Not to mention that fact that Sean came off as a needy whimp. While Leah just whined and moanded about a lost love she never had. On top of that Since Angela Weaver took made such a big stink about Leah being hung up on Lance why did't have Leah confront Lance.
This book was a waste of a good tree. I have never read this author's books before and it would have to take an act of GOD to make me read another one of her books.

So much potential,

This review is from: Frost On My Window (Indigo Love Spectrum) (Mass Market Paperback)
This novel had so much potential. I am so disappointed. First of all, we had to read about how Leah and Sean met as a memory. There was not alot of interaction between the two of them. How in the world could believe they were in love if you don't see them interact but twice in the book?? I also had to make myself finish because I do not like leaving books unfinished (blame it on OCD I guess). I didn't have a problem with the cousin and other secondary characters, but they had more in the book then the hero. I have read this author in the past and I have enjoyed her novels, but this on missed the mark!

It did not seem like the same author that wrote No Ordinary Love, wrote this book. The writing was disjointed with little to no fluidity to the story. The constant flashbacks were not smoothed into. One moment Leah's in the present, the next she's remembering something that happened in the past with no changed font to let you know it is a flashback. But then again, the majority of the story seem to be reflections and reminiscings. Many pages were skipped over because of these unnecessary ruminations that meant nothing. Rena's character was more like a second heroine, seeing as how the hero (if you can call him that) was m.i.a. for the majority of the book. Annoying, go no where dialogue, mixed in with what's the point of this day to day interactions and flashbacks, with why should I care about you secondary characters, made this book a trial to finish. I literally had to place it in the bathroom to force myself to read it, otherwise I'd never pick it up again and I so hate not finishing a book.
I actually liked Rena's character more than Leah's, go figure. In all honesty, I can't fault the book for misrepresentation, because the description on the back cover pretty much left Sean out, mentioning him almost as an afterthought in the last sentence. But bless it, I expect some romance in a romance novel!

Did not meet my expectations,

This was the first time that I read a book by this author and was excited after reading the summary. As I began to read the story I stopped to research the author to determine if this was a first novel. I was shocked to find out that she has been published several times over. This story was so poorly put together I couldn't believe it, half of the book could have been edited out and replaced by more romance between the leads. A whiny Leah moaning after a love (Lance)that #1 never knew of her feelings and #2 was a selfish prick who was never hers to begin with. Poor Sean, he spends the whole freaking book lurking in the background and when we see a glimpse of him is constantly apologizing for his superstar status and declaring his love for Leah. Ok um, did Leah suddenly forget that he was this megastar, he was the night that they met. The pacing was super slow and with little interaction between the two; I don't know when they found time to fall in love (i guess it was around page 250?/300). As for all the extra stuff going on? who knows? Author could have atleast resolved the issues with her cousin and she could have done the same for Lance. I am trying not to let this book deter me reading others by this author but right now I am very hestitant.

Frost on my Window!!,
This review is from: Frost On My Window (Indigo Love Spectrum) (Mass Market Paperback)
This is the first book that I read by Angela Weaver. I liked the author's storyline and writing style.
It was nice to see that the female main character was a career woman. She was a strong woman when it came to knowing her professional self as a black woman, and was not stuck up on her looks. What did bother me about Leah was that she allowed her pining for one man (Lance) to affect her life to the point that she was not really living her life to the fullest. I liked the character of Sean Andrews. I do wish the author would have made the first meeting of Leah and Sean more than just a flashback memory in the book. He seemed to be a tortured soul (because of his mother) but that is what endeared me to him. I like that he was not afraid to express his feelings, but it didn't take away from him as a man. I liked the fact that Leah and Sean started off as friends. It was nice seeing the characters fall in love, or should I say one of the characters realize that she actually liked her friend all the time. It was also nice to see that the friends and families of Leah and Sean were not concerned with them being different races. The part of the story I didn't understand was Leah's and Lance. Leah didn't go to Lance's wedding because she was hurt that he married someone else, however, she never revealed her feelings to Lance. She hasn't had too many relationships because no one; in her opinion measures up to Lance. But, when we finally meet Lance, we the reader are given nothing to show why Lance is so special. As a matter of fact what occurs in Lance's life when Leah reunites with Lance makes us wonder what in the world Leah saw in him in the first place. I think this part of the story would have been better if the character of Lance never actually came back, but was just a flashback in the story. Overall, I think the book was a good read, and I would read other books by Ms. Weaver. This review can also be found on my blog at [...]

Weaver's Passion For Writing Knocks The Chill Off "Frost",
This review is from: Frost On My Window (Indigo Love Spectrum) (Mass Market Paperback)
I enjoyed FROST ON MY WINDOW by author Angela Weaver. It's my first book to read of hers, but I could see it play out in front of me like a mini-series you would watch on tv. Though the characters don't reveal all of themselves to us or even fill in all of the blanks that we might like, how many of us do that in our own lives?
What the book does---and rather effectively I think---is showcases how we have to make our own decisions in life about who we love, and not allow the feelings and opinions of others to get in the way. The author's passion for writing a book that is true to her vision shines through in this one for me. A great story with great lessons.

Not Horrible, but definitely could have been a lot better,

This review is from: Frost On My Window (Indigo Love Spectrum) (Mass Market Paperback)
I have had this book for 5 months and was reluctant to read it because of the reviews. It not as horrible, but it not that good.
I actually had hope for the book until I got to page 230, and by end I was just too tired of Leah's erratic behavior. I actually kept hoping it was going to get better, but to me it got worst. Her dialogue just became too redundant and a lot of silly, unnecessary drama. She definitely was playing games with Sean's emotions to test his love, but why? I liked Sean's character, but the Lance character was total waste of energy and time. And the issue with her cousin were still not clear for me. Okay I understand Rena's parents were killed by a drunk driver who kept sending letters asking forgiveness, but why did she even read them. She had a choice to simply throw the letters away. Maybe I could have understood it better, if I had a better idea of their ages. They just seemed real immature to have such high powered jobs. I didn't understand Leah's issues and why she had such low self-esteem. In one instance I thought maybe she was a full-figured woman and that's why she was always at the gym, but then Sean and her mother mention she was too slim. I thought maybe she is carrying scars from a previous relationship, but she didn't seem to have any other relationships, beside pining after Lance. Why? The airport scene was so totally childish and had me thinking (This is supposed to be a grown woman?) I didn't understand her issues with Lance, because she clearly wasn't interested in him. Heck they really didn't even seem like they were close friends. What was the purpose of writing the whole part about Lance getting a woman pregnant and the woman leaving the child on his doorstep. Why was that even in the book? Were we suppose to gain some insight from that? And why did Leah feel the need to go to his house again to talk to him about her predicament? What purpose did that whole dialogue serve, none as far as I can tell. Did her issues stem from the fact that Sean was white...that wasn't real clear. Why did she feel so responsible for Rena? I tried to see it from the point of self improvement, but I was left feeling that Leah needed therapy. The story was simply incomplete and there was really nothing gained by the end of the book. You're not left hoping to read more about them in future stories, you'll just be glad you made it to the end. I agree secondary character's are supposed to add to the story, but these characters were unnecessary fillers to a overall weak book. I really, really tried to be objective, but I am being generous by giving this book 2 stars simply because there was not an 1.5 stars option. I'm not sure I would read any other books by Ms. Weaver, unless someone gave it to me. It was not because the book was in first person, but the story was just kind of all over the place. The premise could have made for an excellent story, but Ms. Weaver just did not deliver. It really was lacking in real character development and expression, and I so hate to give a bad review, but this book earned its rating. This is not a book you necessarily want to buy unless you can find it at a half-priced book store. This is one time the overwhelming majority of reviews are correct. This was not a real good book and I really wish I could get my money back.

Mixed feeling but no regrets about reading it,

First let me say the book is technically well written and I do not regret reading it. I was a little hesitant at first thinking the author was going to try and do a knock-off of Crystal Hubbard's "Crush" but it was its own story. Having said that, I can understand some of the other reviews. The book is written in first person, a tool I am not a fan of and the book really spends a lot of time focusing on Leah's self-discovery, figuring out what she really wants and hanging with her cousin. Sean Andrews, the rocker love interest, really doesn't play a major role in the story until the half-way point. Nor are you going to find the usual tension between the hero and heroine as in other romance books. It's really a friendship that turns into a romance about 2/3 of the way into the book. I admit it took awhile to get into it and you never really understood what it was that Sean saw in Leah since it is written in first-person but overall not a bad read.
