3-pc Red Frosted Votive Set with Realistic Battery Operated Flickering Tealights

I recently ordered two different sets of flameless candles on Amazon. The other set I ordered was pretty crummy, but I really like this set. Each battery-operated candle sits in a frosted glass candleholder. The frosted glass hides the bulbs, which means that it is easy to imagine that there are real candles inside, rather than electric ones. The battery-operated candles flicker in a way that is not entirely realistic, but it is at least pretty close. I think if you are buying candles to stare at, you will likely be disappointed. But if you are buying candles to set some atmosphere while your main focus is on something else, then I think these candles will do the job very nicely.

Some things I really like about them:

1) They are SAFE! You don't need to worry about setting anything on fire or melting. I like being able to have paper right next to these candles, or let my kids loose around them, without worrying. (My kids love turning these candles on and off -- and, because these are battery operated, they can do it safely.) I like being able to walk away and leave them turned on, without worrying that the house could catch fire.

2) No indoor pollution! When I burn real candles, I worry about all the byproducts that go into the air and get inhaled. With these flameless candles, I can breathe easily without worrying about that.

3) You don't see the bulbs -- they are hidden by the frosted glass.

4) My family really likes eating dinner by candlelight. These aren't exactly the same as candlelight, but they are close enough that they make me happy.

The one thing I dislike about them is that the lines on the striped candleholder look a bit like the stripes were made by wrapping the glass in pantyhose. But unless you are really staring at it, that is easy to overlook.

So, overall, I ended up really happy with these. I spent a *long* time reading about all the flameless candle options on Amazon before I chose these. I think these are a good choice -- I think the frosted glass makes these the best flameless candles available.
