Awsome!,

This review is from: Frostwing (The Dragonrealm) (Paperback)
I got turned on to Knaak when I picked up a copy of firedrake. (The first of his marvelous dragonhelm series.) This book changed my mind about reading modern fantasy novels. Just a heads up though, if you're reading the dragonrealm series disreguard amazons listing this as one cause it isn't. the last is "The Horse King". but this is still an exellent read!

I read this book when it first came out, 15 years ago. I reread it again recently and I am still blown away! I am very suprised that Frostwing is not more popular. Another Knaak favorite of mine is Dutchman. Both are simple stories, told well, that leave a lasting impression.

I couldn't disagree more with the 1 star reviews of this book. This is about the 5th book that I have read by this author, and I have found them all to be well-written and captivating. Simply put: This is definitely worth reading, if you enjoy the sci-fi/fantasy genre.

Modern Dark Fantasy: Good Stuff,
By
This review is from: Frostwing (The Dragonrealm) (Paperback)
_Frostwing_ introduced me into the world of modern dark fantasy, a place i have happily been trapped in ever since. Knaak from page one drops you right into his world of sorcerors, vicious memory stealing gargoyles, and a line of descendants of a mad wizard.Grigori Nicolau is our main character, a man haunted by Frostwing, a gargoyle that continually steals bits of Nicolau's memories bit by bit each night, only leaving him with pieces so unrellated that Nicolau can never put them together. Nicolau discovers however that finally he can find out who is behind Frostwing's power, what his past is, and what the future might hold for him. If you're looking for a good modern fantasy, or want to introduce yourself to the genre Richard Knaak's _Frostwing_ is certainly a book worth picking up.

One of the first fantasy books I ever read, Mr. Knaak quickly became one of my favorite authors. Of all his books I've read, and those I have not are of the Forgotten Realms, this is one of my most treasured. Contrary to some previous reviews, I believe it is fantastically written, entertaining, and overall a great story.

This book is one of my favorites. The plot twists and turns until you aren't sure that the characters you know are the same ones from the beginning. It grabbed my attention and held it till the very end of the book, and even then I wanted to read more.

Where is this story going?,
By A Customer
This review is from: Frostwing (The Dragonrealm) (Paperback)
Yuck. Sorry to burst the author's bubble, but I didn't like this story. I couldn't read on becuase it just got dull and frankly I didn't care what would happen. I will tell you what drew me in the story though -- the first couple of pages. The idea of a gargoyle taunting and controling you or me was cool. Then the main character suddenly was thrown into the real world again, and is witnessing (later on) all kinds of bizarre things that were going on, like rats that could chew through walls (?). I tried to like this book, I really did, but I couldn't. A typical fantasy book? I hope not, since I don't read books often.

Boring...,

This review is from: Frostwing (The Dragonrealm) (Paperback)
"Frostwing" was published in russian few weeks ago in "Dark City" series where excellent novels about Anita Blake (by Laurell Hamilton) are now published as well. I was very impressed by Hamilton' books so I have bought "Frostwing" which title is changed to "Master Of Rats" for some reasons. But I simply couldn't finish the book. It was too boring, the plot is quite thrilling, but it's written in such unimpressive way, that I threw it away by the middle of novel.
