The adventurous sequel to Ellen F. Feld's novel, "Blackjack", Frosty: The Adventures Of A Morgan Horse is a thoroughly delightful novel for young readers about a girl and her relationship with powerful and noble animals. Heather Richardson, owner of the horse Blackjack, is entrusted with a rare gray Morgan named Frosty. Heather learns to her disappointment that not all horses are meant for the show ring, yet she also discovers that Frosty's strength lies in trail riding as she and Frosty must learn to work together to survive the woods of Vermont. Frosty is a story to be cherished by horse lovers of all ages.

This is a really cool horse book. I read the other book in the series last year. It is called Blackjack. This one was even better!!! I didn't know how Blackjack would get cured or how Heather and Frosty would get out of the woods. I read it really fast too cause I didn't want to stop.

I read Blackjack which is the first book in this series and thought it was the best horse book ever. Then I read Frosty and I liked it just as much. This is a really cool series. I love how real the horses are and all the horse show stuff and trail riding stuff is neat.

Cool horse book!!!,

This was a really, really good book. I loved the first book in this series. It was called Blackjack. Frosty is the second book and it is really neat. I don't like horse books that talk more about the people and who likes who or who is going to be their new boyfriend. I want to read about horses! These books are all about horses. The people seem real and so do the horses. In Blackjack, the horse hated to canter on one lead, just like the horse that I ride in my lessons. And Frosty does a lot of stuff that my lesson horse Jess does too. You should read this book if you like horses.

Ellen F. Feld, award-winning author, equine journalist and phenomenally passionate horse lover, once again reaches out to the hearts and dreams of the teenaged horse loving set with her newly revised book, "FROSTY: The Adventures of a Morgan Horse."
Laura and Heather were best friends. Best friends know everything about each other, but for the life of her Laura couldn't figure out why the heck her pal would ever want to bid on such a bedraggled looking horse. Heather already had a great Morgan horse named Blackjack, but another one, a dirty mare with burrs in her tail no less, was just too much. "What? Are you crazy? " Heather heard her friend, but she heard this little mare calling out to her more. There was something very special about this little gray gal and she knew it. She just knew it. The bidding was on and her stomach was in knots. Going once, going twice . . . Frosty was hers Heather Richardson had high hopes for Frosty. She was anxious for her to be her second show horse, but soon found that her new purchase was clueless when it came to commands. She was gravely disappointed to find out that Frosty had been "ruined" by an unscrupulous and cruel trainer. Coupled with the fact that Blackjack had a mysterious illness her problems and discouragement continued to mount. Her rare gray Morgan was useless But was she? Heather, much to her delight found that Frosty just might have the makings of a great trail horse. With this new discovery the girls had been anxiously looking forward to going on the Mountain View Trail Ride, a three day ride in the woods of Vermont. When they arrived at their destination they were raring to go. Heather and Frosty were doing fine until a quirk of fate separated them from the rest of the riders. Lost in a lingering fog and separated from the group Heather became fearful when all of a sudden then was an accident. Frosty, desperately trying to lunge out of a swampy area, awkwardly jumped forward. Heather lost her balance. To her horror she found herself trapped under her mare! Reading Frosty instantly transported me back to my childhood days and returned to me the wonderment and awe I used to feel when I'd hide under the covers with a flashlight, turn page after page of a favorite book and read to my heart's delight. This is one of those rare timeless books that can be enjoyed and read by all age levels. It's very easy to see why this is a Children's Choice award winner because this reviewer thinks it's a winner too!

Frosty by Ellen Feld,
This review is from: Frosty: The Adventures of a Morgan Horse (Morgan Horse series) (Perfect Paperback)
Unlike other series where the second book is usually a disappointment compared to the first book, Ellen Feld's "Frosty" is quite the opposite! If you loved "Blackjack", you will adore "Frosty". The rare gray colored Morgan mare is a new addition to the Gallant Farm and you will share Heather's excitement in her trail riding adventures. This story takes you on a twisting journey through the woods of Vermont that will make you feel as if you are riding right next to Heather and Frosty sharing in the excitement, panic, fright, hopefulness, and appreciation as the plot unravels. Another book that is loved by ALL ages! Well done Ellen Feld!
