Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com

It's no secret that sequels to classic TV specials rarely stack up--they're usually guilty of getting too fancy with characters and story lines, causing irritating fissures to form in our perceptions of the originals. Lucky for a new generation of holiday viewers, that's not the case with Frosty's Winter Wonderland. In fact, lining up a Frosty double feature at home in which the original is directly followed by the new title is a fully cringe-free proposition, thanks mostly to the down-homey, pleasant narration of Andy Griffith and the near-perfect portrayal of the Frosty we all know and love by Jackie Vernon. The Wonderland dialogue doesn't trouble itself with tiresome throwbacks, and even the plot isn't overly ambitious: Frosty, lonely at the North Pole, is bent on keeping his famous promise to the kids that he'll be back again someday, so when the news of a snowstorm in their town reaches him, he waddles off. But once the belly-whopping's run its course, he's lonely again. The children, hoping to salvage Frosty's stay with them, hit upon a solution: they'll build Frosty a wife. Crystal fits every snowman's fantasy of a dream bride, but will jealous Jack Frost sabotage their wintry wedding? For all classic Christmas special fans who harbor hopes that the fun can continue, it's worth finding out. Kids 2 and older will love the songs and the still-intact dribbles of silliness. --Tammy La Gorce

4.0 out of 5 stars The TRUE sequel to "Frosty the Snowman" November 28, 2000
By Funky D
Format:VHS Tape
"Frosty's Winter Wonderland" seamlessly takes up where the original left off. Frosty, like anyone, needs a companion, so the kids build Crystal. Although Jack Frost nearly spoils the upcoming wedding, all is resolved in classic storybook fashion, free of the "politically correct" garbage that plagues "Frosty Returns".

It was too bad that episode was not included on the "Frosty" DVD.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the BEST Family Oriented Films EVER MADE! May 17, 2000
Format:VHS Tape
This one is ofcourse about how EVERYONE'S favorite Snowman get's a wife. This film is one that I grew up on as a child, and I loved and adored it then, and I still do now. This story is told and sung by Andy Griffith and stars Paul Frees as Jack Frost, Shelly Winters as Crystal, and Dennis Day as Parson Brown. A very good Holiday treat, written by the GREAT Romeo Muller, who is the GREATEST children's writer who EVER lived! Your kids will enjoy this cartoon and you will too. THIS IS NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH THE OTHER "FROSTY THE SNOWMAN" SEQUEL CALLED "FROSTY RETURNS" WHICH STAR JOHN GOODMAN, WHICH DOES NOT COMPARE TO THE QUALITY OF THIS FILM. To further see the adventures of FRosty, Crystal, and Jack Frost buy "Rudolph and Frosty's Christmas in July".

5.0 out of 5 stars The true Frosty sequel! November 28, 2003
Format:VHS Tape
I loved this special where Frosty gets married! It is in the same style of animation, with most of the same voice talents as the first. I am always annoyed that every year now they play Frosty with Frosty Returns instead of this. And didn't include this on the Frosty DVD! This is the one we want to see on the DVD!
