5.0 out of 5 stars My Favourite Madonna Song
OK So it might sound crazy, but I am not an out-there Madonna fan!, I dont have any of her CD's whatsover, but most of the singles she releases I love. This is by far the most Un-madonna-like song I have heard in ages. This is a beautfiul (ballad) and it has an atmosphere that reminds me of the time when it was released =). The lyrics are great and this is peiced together...

1.0 out of 5 stars Sucky Single - Buy the Album
Ok here's yet another rant from a single I have bought and was very disappointed. Sure Frozen and Ashanti are great tracks. There is no argument there, but why pay for a single when you can buy the whole album??

For me this is very frustrating. Maybe people here are thinking this is the album, but then again Ray of Light is the Album, which this is from. Is it...

Its a very haunting ballad that will stay with you all day until you hear it!. I 100% reccomend this haunting amazing song. The music to go with it is haunting aswell I really reccomend you give this a try.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Own Madonna Maxi-Single., December 3, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Frozen (Audio CD)
Like the album's second single, "Ray of Light", this maxi contains the album version followed by three remixes.
1. ALBUM VERSION: The music and lyrics of Madonna and Patrick Leonard, her longtime collaborator, responsible for "Like a Prayer" among others, with the techno-ambience of William Orbit creates a potent combination. It's at its core a simple pop song, but the complexity of the arrangement is just amazing, and the warmth of the strings arranged by Craig Armstrong are quite compelling.

2. STEREO MC'S MIX: How do you mix an almost perfect song? This mix puts a funk beat to it, for a surprisingly good interpretation. I love a remix that works as a dance mix, but doesn't have the typical club beats, and this is certainly it.

3. EXTENDED CLUB MIX: Victor Calderone has done many a traditional club mix of Madonna's recent ouevre, and does another highly enjoyable job with this one. I do appreciate that he takes out the thumping bass on occasion in favor of a synth-based interpretation of the song's string arrangements. Good dance mix.

4. MELTDOWN MIX: This is courtesy co-producer William Orbit, and this is basically an extended fantasia on the album version, but with enough new beats and instruments to make it quite interesting and cool.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good CD, November 30, 1999

This Single is well worth buying even if you already have the album. The sasha remix (released with its own video) is very good but the Caulderone mix is outstanding and shows why he is Madonnas favourite DJ. Buy this now even if it leaves you without money for food and drink.

4.0 out of 5 stars Took me 5 years to unfreeze!, February 24, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Frozen (Audio CD)
I finally gave this single a try 5 years after its release. Back then I loved Frozen but i wasn't interested in the remixes at all. Now I have to say this is a very nice single and each remix is worth the attention. What I like the most is that none of them ruin the song. The atmosphere of the original is always kept at some level, whether it's a club mix (track 4) or a soft one (track 5). Vocals are kept in every mix, and additional sound effects are a delight since they seem to enhance the song instead of ruining it. Recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Madonna+Orbit=Hit, April 2, 2002

The Queen of Pop is back with completely new sound, new image and new producer. The first single by the new Madonna is the most emotioal ballad she ever did. For fans of the old Madonna the song may sound a little bit weird because of her changed voice and the electronic sounds by William Orbit(He also worked with Blur and All saints) but it will grow on you I promise.
The remixes are very danceable except the Widescreen mix.

4.0 out of 5 stars Frozen is good, Club Mix is not, December 13, 2001
This review is from: Frozen (Audio CD)
Frozen is a great song and the Stereo MC's remix is fantastic! However, the Club mix is awfull! Madonna's ballads should NEVER be made into dance versions (with the exception of Love Don't Live Here Anymore and WIFLFAG, which are great!) This club mix of Frozen is by far the worst remix by Victor Calderone. I don't know why Madonna keeps recruiting him, all his remixes sound the same! All in all, buy this, if only for the album version! The third remix is OK...

5.0 out of 5 stars A Song Frozen In Time, October 24, 2001
By
MJ Krom (Los Angeles,CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Frozen (Audio CD)
Frozen: it envokes images of Madonna dressed in black, floating over a desert, inviting us to let go of our present lives and go on a new track. FROZEN is the mantra for us, as women who want to be understood and can give love but want it back as well. This song was already a masterpiece, but, with the help of the STEREO MC'S, Mr. Orbit and Calderone, she has widened her landscape..to engulf us and to put us into a dancing rage while listening to her mantra of letting go. One of Madonna's timeless masterpieces....it is FROZEN, marking a new period of creativity in her life.
