A world of ice, February 20, 2012
This review is from: Frozen Planet: A World Beyond Imagination (Hardcover)
This is an attractive, heavy coffee table book. The photographs are lovely to look at, with close ups that are artistic wonders and other shots that are breathtaking.
It contains information on both the northern and southern polar regions. There is an extensive forward by David Attenborough, general information on the polar areas, chapters on spring, summer, autumn and winter, the thinning ice and the story of filming this BBC production.
We read and see a narrative about the ice, the sea, the plants and the living creatures that survive in this cold world. There is almost as much text as there are photographs which are all well labeled. Maps of the Artic and Antarctic areas are included as well as an index.
This is a book that those who are fascinated by these Polar Regions would enjoy, as well as those who appreciate photography and wildlife and wilderness expanses.
