Great collection of WT songs, November 1, 2010
Frozen is the second single from Within Temptation's third studio album The Heart of Everything. It includes a collection og very different, but equally enthralling songs. The title song, "Frozen" is really the star here. It's a fabulous ballad that will move listeners to tears with its operatic drama and Sharon's hauntingly beautiful vocals. Every moment in "Frozen" builds on the drama, the pure sorrow and struggle in this song. It'll stay with you long after hearing it.
Another song offered on this single is "The Howling," nearly the complete opposite of "Frozen." "The Howling" is a strong, powerful rock song where the raw force of Sharon's vocals is a pulse-pounding thrill ride that pull listeners into the drama, the intensity of the battle that's unfolding in the song. It's also a great one to sing to on the way to work in the morning -really gets me engaged and gets the brain moving.
There's also the lesser-known Heart of Everything B-side "Sounds of Freedom," which was actually one of the first songs recorded for the album. It has a very unique sound, with more of an exotic, almost middle-eastern/desert-like feel. Sharon's vocals echoing in a beautifully haunting way, capturing an unspeakable beauty. Though I think it was ultimately a wise decision to cut this from the album (would have probably been one too many ballads), it's a lovely treasure from the cutting room floor.
This single also includes acoustic versions of "What Have You Done?" and "The Cross," which are lovely, but definately give off a pre-Acoustic Night at the Theatre feel. Frankly, this single isn't worth getting just for these acoustic versions (even if you are a WT collector). They're both covered on An Acoustic Night at the Theatre, and those versions are much better.

Another must have for Within Temptation fans!, January 8, 2008
"Frozen" is another MUST have for all Within Temptation fans. The single versions of "Frozen" & "The Howling" differ greatly from the album versions. BUT. The best bonus is the videos for these two songs. The unreleased track, "Sounds Of Freedom" isn't bad. But. The acoustic versions of "What Have You Done" & "The Cross" are excellent.

Though the complete opposite sides of the WT coin, the Frozen single offers two unique musical experiences from Dutch symphonic rock band WT.
