I gave this to my 7 year old who had asked for it several times. What a dissapointment. As soon as he took it out and tried to play with it he was bored and started playing with his brother's angry birds "knock on wood" game. The only thing my kids will use again is the little plastic knives that come with it to play.
I would not recommend this game, your child will be dissapointed.

This game was purchased while daughter decided which game to give as a gift to sibling. It was packaged and presented nicely to appear to our young consumer and her mother that it would be loads of fun to "chop fruit" in a safe way. But once opened, and said mother read and re read the instructions to try and understand the object and how to play, the fun ended quite quickly. The object is to collect the most fruit. Some of the fruit have bombs on the underside of them (we later calculated that half of the fruit had bombs which makes the game nearly impossible to advance or win). The fruit are laid out in the center face side down (or "skin" side up). The deck is shuffled and placed in the center, also. The first player cuts the deck. They may choose a card from either side of the cut. The cards have various combinations of fruit, either whole or cut up. The whole fruits get taken and the halved fruits get "chopped" (or flipped over) by the player. IF (and only IF) the fruits are not bombed, the player gets to keep the fruit. If there is a bomb on any of the sides of those chosen fruits, then all the fruit gets put back into the center and the next player has a go. I can honestly say that I played this game with an 8 and 7 year old and neither one found the game fun nor did they find the object or rules easy to figure out. After 5 minutes they both gave me a look of despair and put the game away. My one BIG regret.... my daughter lost 1 piece of the fruit and the box was torn....I CANT RETURN IT! <<<<<<<>>>>>>>

The game does not slice fruit, you only flip it. And honestly, I did not understand the directions and the kids kept asking how to play. It was confusing and not fun.

The object is to turn over certain fruits that are on a card that Is drawn by each player (2 player game). Each player uses the plastic knife that comes with the game to turn over the pieces by chopping at them. The shapes are known by looking at the backs of the pieces. Fun for young ones under 10.

The game itself kinda sucks. Gameplay is boring. If you want to play fruit ninja, stick with the phone. Or if you want - the version for the box kinect is pretty amazing. The only use of this game is the cute little swords.
