Not really NW natives,

This review is from: Fruits & Berries of the Pacific Northwest (Paperback)
Although there are plenty of color photos, most of the varieties mentioned do not have accompanying pictures, which would make identification easier. Additionally, I was hoping for a primer of fruits that grow wild in the Pacific NW, but this seems to cover coast-to-coast varieties.
This book would be more helpful if you had a particular fruit in mind, and were looking for a variety that would be suitable to your area and climate. It's not very helpful if you want to identify something growing in your neck of the woods.

This review is from: Fruits & Berries of the Pacific Northwest (Paperback)
I live west of the Cascades and have been wanting to start a small orchard. Not knowing anything about trees I found this book at a used book store. I like how the author lists fruit varieties and then lets you know if they are better for the west or east part of the state. Some varieties have both where some have just one or the other. There are not tons of pictures of each fruit type, but a quick internet search will give you a picture. I wanted a list of trees that have the best chance at my area and this book gives that information. I can then do further research to find out which of the trees he lists are best for my situation. I'm excited that there is on apricot tree that he lists as a west variety. The second part of this book gives planting, growing, pruning, and pest control advise. It's not a very extensive book, but it has basics which is what I wanted. I highly recommend this book.
