Book Description

A little frumptastic, eh? You're not alone.

“Mommy, pleeeeeeeeeeeease get me some cereal?!”

“Yep, okay, I’m up {pull covers closer}…just give me a minute {ahem, 10 more minutes)…”

You get up (finally!), and look for something comfortable…warm…soft…easy. You make your way to the kitchen and start making breakfast (ahem, coffee) and the babes something to eat. Time goes by and the day has begun.

And you’re still not dressed.

Not really anyway. You wouldn’t venture out to the coffee shop like this (maybe the drive through, but that’s it), and you sure as heck wouldn’t show up for lunch at your husband’s work looking like you do…all disheveled and slightly stinky (have you brushed your teeth yet?).

And here you are just a wee bit (I’m being nice) frumptastic for your family. How do you feel? Do you feel productive or lazy? Energized or tired? Pretty, or… {shudder}.

When I don’t at least put on some jeans and a cute shirt, a bit of makeup (hey, if the barn needs painted, paint it), and do something with this Mufasa hair of mine, I feel lazy, icky, and tired. I would hide if my husband brought someone home unexpectedly. Sure, I’m comfortable, and who really has time to look nice with little ones who need fed and a home taken care of? I mean surely if I had a maid and mother’s helper I’d get dressed, right? Right?!

Maybe.

But that’s not the point. The point is, I think we’ll feel better about ourselves and be better (happier) mamas, wives, and homemakers if we take care of ourselves in the little things.

And that is what Frumps to Pumps is all about. Getting into the habit of getting dressed so we can love people (and ourselves) well. When we're dressed, we're more hospitable, more inclined to get things done, play with our children, feel energized, and look nice for our men.

If you struggle with the frump slump, this faith-based book is for you. It's in the form of a motivational, so it's a mix of motivation and devotional.

Ready to join the challenge? Let's get dressed!

4.0 out of 5 stars Convicting and inspring April 1, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I became very convicted reading Frumps to Pumps. I wasn't thinking I would. The subtitle says "Your one-month motivational to getting dressed and staying that way!". I found myself saying "that's not a problem for me I get dressed every morning".

I don't wear PJ's during the day ever. I don't wear what would be considered comfy clothes unless I am ill. But, after digging a few pages into Sarah Mae's e-book, I realized I have fallen into a whole different "frump" category one Mae didn't even mention.

I am a "mom uniform" wearer. You know the uniform jeans (preferably with stretch) and a t-shirt. Some days mom uniform wearers like myself might go all out and wear a t-shirt with embellishment or add a necklace (shocking!).

Our mom uniform cry "anything else is not practical". So this week I have tried to step it up. I have worn leggings and a sweater (and my girl friend told me I looked "cute" that day). I bought a new hip top a Target and rocked it with skinny jeans and cute flats (yes it was still a t-shirt and jeans but they were very upscale). I wore a skirt and .....okay so perhaps I need a bit of work when it comes to getting rid of my t-shirt addiction, but I am trying.

You know what I found out, these outfits worked with my day to day life, just as well as jeans and a t-shirt. I also received more compliments about my clothes all week than I have in years. Work accomplished and a boost in confidence, now that is a combo I can handle, and all thanks to reading "Frumps to Pumps"an e-book cram packed with scriptures to dwell on, hints to help you, and challenges to keep you on track.

5.0 out of 5 stars A New Look To My Day April 12, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
An e-book that tips the scales to a realistic way for women to start their day, vs. the Modern magazine trends that encourage perfection, and a costly wardrobe. Sarah Mae has written a real-life scenario that we can all adjust to, and benefit from! As a mom to ten children, and a schedule that keeps me from spending much time in front of the mirror, I put Frumps to Pumps to the test. SCORE! From my husband, then my 19 year old daughter, to my smallest of children- the exclamations on the changes they are seeing is overwhelming! Having read through Frumps to Pumps three times and given 20 copies away...I am SOLD!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great encouragement!! March 19, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
As a former classroom teacher who wore dress clothing everyday and then became a stay at home mom, I fell into the trap of always hanging out in my cozy clothes and having a late start every day. Sarah Mae's book encouraged me to get dressed each day to have a purpose and design for the day. She writes in a casual friendly manner. I thought we were sitting at the kitchen table having coffee. She uses scripture and quotes to support her thoughts. I am a changed person!
