Gob is good...,
By nerdcore kid (long island) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Fu (Audio CD)
lately ive been hearing alot about this band called Gob, saw stuff about them hear from people w/similar tastes in music...so naturally, i [downloaded] a bunch of Gob songs, and i liked it...so, im at the record store and, as always trying to get everything out of my money as possible i notice i just barely have enough money to buy this EP, in addition to a full length album im buying...knowing i love the song "For the Moment" (great song!!!!) i buy it, and i am quite pleased...is Gob another pop-punk band? yes...are they still talented musicians? yes...do they fulfill their promise? they show signs... Gob is one of those bands that half the time you listen to them and go "wow, that is amazing" and half the time youre wondering why it is youre listening to them...their guitar riffs are intricate and catchy, the vocals are good, the lyrics just as good as the other pop-punk available, and the overall sound excellent...but they arent consistent, one song, like "For the Moment" will be amazing, and another song, like "Soda" will leave you reaching for that little extra, the iceberg theyve only scraped the tip of... Gob is a talented band, and this EP is worth your money, 3 star review or not...but listen to them first and make sure you know what youre in for before buying an album...

Gob -" FU Ep,

This review is from: Fu (Audio CD)
With their third released disc these Canadian punk rockers have captured the essence of acts such as Green Day and Sum 41. Unlike most of the present day pop punk bands whose songs run together, each song off the "FU E.P." has been highly individualized, and the combined vocal styling of Tom and Theo, round out each song as its own. From the lead off track "Ming Tran" to the closer "Soda" this is an all around solid album from an almost unknown band, and they just may break before this wave of pop punk passes us by. At only 9 songs lasting for about 25 minutes, you're probably thinking "Hell, I'll just download it". This CD is well worth the money, selling for around $8 and containing a few extra incentives to buy (some live footage I believe). Even if punk isn't your thing, give Gob a chance; they may give your perception a shot in the arm. (...)
