Editorial Reviews

The Mint Chicks are from Auckland, New Zealand, because that's where they live. Their debut full-lengther F**k The Golden Youth was recorded in absolute seclusion in an abandoned shed on a Northland beach because that's where NOBODY lives. No outside interference, safety nets, or support network means necessity can be a mother of an intervention, and cabin fever can be broken by the reality-splash of the cold truth of NOW. As such, F**k The Golden Youth is not a manifesto for posterity, but the sound of a self-realised present. The album includes the 14 track album 'Fat Gut Strut', 'Rubbage Rat', 'F**k The Golden Youth', 'A Quick Show Of Hands', 'Nothing Is A Switch', 'Opium Of The People', 'Take It, I Don't Want It', 'My Arpeggio', 'Licking Letters', 'Silver Homeless Man', 'So Many Of You, So Few Of Us', 'I Don't Want To Grow Old', 'You're Bored Because You're Boring' & 'Not For Me'. Flying Nun. 2005.

Format: Audio CD
Sort of sounds like a much faster, harsher and much more interesting version of typical modern 'punk', if you know what I mean.

In my opinion it isn't worth the high import price, but if you can listen to a few tracks (somehow...) you can decide for yourself.

My favourite tracks for the record are Fat Gut Strut, Opium of The People, Take It, I Don't Want It and Licking Letters.
