wow... total disbelief with the how and why of this album not being reviewed. There's not much you can say that is bad about this album. Craft manage to stay "catchy" without being posers, or totally derivative. Sonically, it's kind of like the last few Darkthrone albums, but much better. I love Darkthrone, but Craft (obviously Darkthrone-inspired) have done the job much better. Chicken, or egg? Doesn't matter in this review.

3 AND A HALF STARS...NOT THREE.,

This Cd is between 3 and 4 stars...so I'll give it three and a half. Maybe a tiny speck more. This is my first Craft CD. It wasn't horrible, but I'm not jumping up and down. The instrumentals were pretty good. They'd be even better though if the same guitar riff didnt seem to appear in almost every song- makes it sort of monotonous. The vocals were fair also. Not the best I've ever heard for a Black Metal band, but they flowed with the music pretty well. This band almost reminds me of Black Dawn except with better guitar work. I'd say this CD is worth checking out...only if you're not too particular and/or technical and really love black metal. For anyone else, it might not sound too great.

Some of the best music to be produced by anyone in years! Pure sludge. An explosion of cleansing bile, both sonically and lyrically. The sound is much like if Black Flag had recorded "Damaged" in 2006, but with the rage turned outward. Tortured guitars much in the Greg Ginn vein. There are no black metal cliches--little in the way of blastbeat drums, for instance--but that just means that Craft make their own music, without trying to adhere to conventions. Listen to this disc daily as a personal ritual, until it gets into your head and your soul. It's much blacker than any trite formulaic "black metal" could ever be.
