I got this cd a few years ago, and lots of the songs still show up on my mp3's most listened playlist. I heard how boss this cd was for years before i picked it up myself, to be honest the cover art was a deterrent for me. No matter what your social or political stances, its a bit strong. HOWEVER I'm also of the opinion that to take offense to any idea or emotion is completely infantile, and finally I had to hear them out. People, this is an amazing, infuriating, intoxicating, accelerating, heartbreaking, mindblowing piece of art. I don't literally advocate the murder of cops or anyone-but this is the music of anger, this is the sincere voice of people who have endured the hardships they sing about. Depression, oppression, addiction, rejection, alienation, poverty- these things inspire real hatred in people, and for the people who find this cd too caustic and assaultive, remember that before music was an industry, it was an art. Its a celebration of emotions, not just warm encouraging emotions. Its there to expose you to the souls of others, not just to reinforce your existing world-view. For fans of punk and metal, its a no-brainer-this disc absolutely rocks balls. For everyone else, well if you're reading the user reviews you must be interested for some reason, and I advise you to find out for yourself. You may find yourself angry or sympathetic or repulsed or emboldened or paranoid, but one thing you will not be is unengaged.

This album has far better musicianship on it than most punk groups display, but it's not quite right to call them punk. Leftover Crack does a good job of blending punk, metal and ska influences. While some bands that are hyped as blending a variety of playing styles produce records that have disjointed feel, this group magaes to provide songs that are able to endure repeated listens, and also contain an alarming amount of diversity of instruments they write for. It goes from tuned-down guitars to violins and accordions.

Also very impressive is the quality of the lyrics. While they stick with the standard theme of being anti-government, they do so in a rather convincing manner. You will probably agree however, that the last song is about 7 minutes too long. Overall, actually more of a 4.5 than a four. Still a great cd.

Basically, these are a bunch of guys who really hate the world, and this CD is their way of sarcastically and intelligently telling us what's wrong with it. Their sound is a ska-core-screamy-at-times-but-pleasant-enough sandwich. Be sure to read the lyrics. And to boot, you can get away with playing the melodic song "Super Tuesday" in the car with your omg-newfound-glory-is-sooo-punk friends without them starting to cry. Well, okay maybe at the end of the song they will. But anyway. BUY.

This is a good cd, they mix ska & punk & metal pretty good. The first four songs really rock but i have to confess i was asleep (literally) by the uber long last song. It's that punk rock short attention span.

I loved Mediocre Generica, and this is nothing like it. This cd really seems like they took a bunch of good sounding riffs and beats and just threw them together without thinking. Maybe its just because the music isnt upbeat like MG, and this really is a far step from Choking Victim.

Ive only listened to it twice, and i dont think ill listen to it again.

I liked the song "Shoot the Kids at School" from the 7", but this version isnt as good, although better recording quality.

Leftover Crack is a political band. An offensive political band. The only kind that counts. There isnt a "wing" here, they call out everyone: cops, world trade, overpopulation, the prison system. The cds about life in general on this album are pessimistic.

"Life is Pain" and "Gang control" are the only songs that really remind me of what Leftover Crack usually sounds like.
There is a lot of piano and violin on this cd.
"Soon well be Dead" is a good song, and its cool to hear the guys from World/Inferno Friendship Society on the record. "One Dead Cop" is cool too.

Dont start out with getting this cd as your first LoC record, get Mediocre Generica. this one is depressed/heavy punk. Not '77 or UK '82 punk at all.

I just saw these guys live two days ago, and they are a great band to see live, i havent had so much fun at a show in years.

oh, and if you "love america" dont waste your money. go buy some radio trash or hick music.

This band isn't "Liberal Minded", they are apathetic, nihilist, and autonomist. Not some grain eating hippies, this is an album for people educated in the truth, not someone 10 degrees left of center. This is for people who don't bother to be on the chart.

it's awesome.. not quite punk, not quite ska, not quite metal, its that hardcore crack rock steady sound. pick up this album, its amazing, it's got that leftover crack sound all over it, and while there are a couple ballads its still hard and rockin. lyrics are still great, LOC still hates autority. pick this cd up, and while your at it get "mediocre generica", which is similar but without a lot of the violins and stuff that they threw in for this album. oh and check out Choking Victim, INDK, and the rest of the bands that have made crack rock steady a form of music to listen to

One of the best albums Ive bought in ages. This is LOC's best in my opinion. Lots of variation on this one. Yeah its pissed off and angry and I wonder why more people arent? Sure some of the songs are a bit over the top, killing cops etc but so what. I love the opening track and theres plenty to enjoy here. The last song is my least favourite but over all this is one bitchin piece of work. Worth it for sure!

I got into this album, and band, and the whole crack rock steady "genre" if you will, when I was 13 or 14 and it gave me a certain change on how I viewed punk rock, especially modern punk, and what it can be used for. There are obviously very few bands out there you can call punk; no matter how experimental(for lack of a better word) Leftover Crack can be, they are without a doubt one of those bands.

I got out of this band after about a year, because I was recognizing the negative effect it was having on me (you can't exactly call Stza a role model......AT ALL).

But I recently took a second listen to this album, and I'm only just discovering the true genius of this music, these lyrics, this musicianship, nearly everything about it. For people who are so into the stereotype of street punks and crusties(f__k the casualties or any of those bands, these guys are true punks), these guys can really write intricate music (just listen to the arrangements in Life is Pain and Operation MOVE, and should I even mention Soon We'll Be Dead?).

This album is genius in almost every way; although it's not my favorite crack rock steady album (that would be a tie between Morning Glory's two albums), this is worth looking into, because it's the closest thing to "progressive punk"(almost an oxymoron, huh?) that we can get to.

This album is incredible, it mixes ska, punk, and hardcore metal into a whirling death mobile of awesome. It has not one bad song on it. I love Mediocre Generica passionately but this tops it. I hope their next cd can somehow top this.
