Book Description

October 15, 2001

Hailed by The Cult's Ian Astbury as "the biggest thing this century" when they exploded into existence in 1986, Zodiac Mindwarp And The Love Reaction were the most outrageous rock band on the planet, sex- and drug-driven metal mayhem drenched in leather, fur, and psychedelic swastika chic.

??

Zodiac and his cohorts-Cobalt Stargazer, Kid Chaos and Slam Thunderhide-were nothing less than the Four Rockmen of the Apocalypse, "storming the gates of Heaven on wheels made in Hell".

??

The Love Reaction were massively successful worldwide, and toured America, where they had a huge cult following, several times. Zodiac also wrote "Feed Your Frankenstein", a massive hit for Alice Cooper which was the main song in smash-hit movie Wayne's World.

??

Zodiac himself was incarnated by former comic illustrator and self-confessed acid casualty, Mark Manning. In FUCKED BY ROCK, Manning recalls astonishing, often shocking episodes and events from a decade of debauchery, derangement and brain-damaging excess. Illustrated throughout, FUCKED BY ROCK is the ultimate rock'n'roll testament, a scream from post-rock purgatory that will appeal not only to Zodiac Mindwarp's thousands of residual fans, but to anyone fascinated by the sex, drugs and mayhem of Rock n' Roll Babylon.

??

• Book launched in Los Angeles with a signing and one-off live concert performance by Zodiac Mindwarp and the Love Reaction (now including Alex James from Britpop superstars Blur).

??

• Book features an introduction by Bill Drummon of the KLF and K Foundation, whose own autobiography, 45, was recently published by Little Brown.

??

Mark Manning was the founder/singer/leader of Zodiac Mindwarp and the Love Reaction from 1986 onwards. He is now a full-time author whose published works include Crucify Me Again (Codex) and Get Your Cock Out (Attack! Books). He lives in London.

Absolutely revolting - a classic. Goodbye feminism.

5.0 out of 5 stars Zoddy's Mein Kampf, May 28, 2003
By
This review is from: Fucked by Rock: The Unspeakable Confessions of Zodiac Mindwarp (Paperback)
Sick, cynical, self-deprecating, smart, and hilarious. Pictures thrown in to boot! Okay, so maybe the plotline is a little blurry and the truth is stretched as taught as a my nerves on a narco hangover. None of this gets in the way of the laughs. Contrary to what Frau Clyde would have you believe, this is nothing like the tedious and sophmoric 'shock-by-design' offerings of Mr. Manson. Zodiac's Mein Kampf is witty, true-of-heart and at times <guffaw> moralistic. Mandatory reading for those about to rock.

5.0 out of 5 stars completely politically incorrect and hysterical, June 24, 2002
This review is from: Fucked by Rock: The Unspeakable Confessions of Zodiac Mindwarp (Paperback)
I know I am supposed to be outraged as a woman and offended as a somewhat sensitive person but Zodiac's anticdotes of life on the road as a rock star were absolutely hilarious. Nobody but him would have the nerve to tell it exactly as it was without any shame. What a wild trip and what a decadent book. Like eating a bunch of chocolate and topping it off with a pint of tequilla while cranking your favorite heavy metal. Lighten up and you'll love this book.
