What do I like about this story? Well when I picked this up this book it turned me away because of the colour of it is purple I thought this was a girls book until I read the back of it, it sounded good, adventures and an also easy reading book with big letters. I knew many people around my name who hate small letters this are another reason. The reason I recommend this book is, now I will go deeper into this well fudge is driving his brother mad as usual. Fudge's and Peter's parents are decided to go on holiday to Maine. Peter says "going on holiday with Fudge-baby tootsie, turtle the dog, and uncle feather the bird --------means disaster every day." Even worse for Peter, disgusting Sheila Tubman is staying in the same house" This girl im talking about hates peter also the bought hate each other. This was interesting story I liked it very much. Jimmy a friend of peters decided to stay the try and get on with her the have great crack in Maine.

P.S. please choose me it's the first book I ever read and i'm getting to enjoy reading lately I have read "Summer sisters "

3.0 out of 5 stars Weakest of the series, July 4, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Fudge-A-Mania (Paperback)
TALES OF A FOURTH GRADE NOTHING and SUPERFUDGE were so charming because they were over-the-top camp written mainly for laughs. Peter was the long suffering elder brother; Fudge, the terror in GrrAnimals; and Tootsie, the baby terror in the making. With FUDGE-A-MANIA, Judy Blume decided to go "realistic" and lost a lot of the fun of the first two books.

Now Peter is the whiner at the prospect of sharing a vacation house with Sheila Tubman. Sure, we know he doesn't like her but he loses a lot of the long-suffering that made his character when he just won't buck up when it's clear Sheila's coming anyway. Half the fun of Peter in the first two books was when his parents convinced him to bear with them and the situation.

Fudge is still a pest, but he has lost a lot of his over-the-top wildness. Where's the kid who smeared mashed potatoes on the wall, got lost in a movie theater, spotted a children's author's imaginary friend (much to Peter's embarrassment), and peddled off to the highway with his annoying friend? Where's the kid who so wanted to be a bird when he grew up that he tried to fly and became better known to his brother as Fang? Sure, he's maturing, but that doesn't mean he should lose the character traits that made him fun.

Finally, what happened to Tootsie? The little girl who loved Nu Yuck was lost in this story. Other than running across the painting of Jimmy's father and thereby creating "Baby Feet," Tootsie wasn't heard from. If Judy Blume was going to mature Fudge, couldn't she have had Tootsie take over his reign of terror?

FUDGE-A-MANIA is okay, but you'll have more fun with TALES OF A FOURTH GRADE NOTHING and SUPERFUDGE.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Book of the Year, April 13, 2005
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Fudge-a-mania (Paperback)
It's about a boy named Peter who has a little brother whose name is Fudge and their new sister Toosy. They have to go on a three-week vacation with a family who will live next door to them there. They have a really, really, really annoying girl. So Peter invites his friend Jimmy to go with him. I think this book is interesting, it is exciting, entertaining. I loved it. It made me feel I am in New York and it's Saturday.

5.0 out of 5 stars the best of the three, November 5, 2001
This review is from: Fudge-A-Mania (Paperback)
By far the funniest of the Fudge books, Fudge-a-mania is a delightful journey into a summer in the life of some kids who can't seem to stay out of interesting situations. If nothing else, read it to find out how Fudge proves he's going to grow up to be a bird.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow it's Fudge!, March 30, 2000

This review is from: Fudge-A-Mania (Paperback)
The book Fudge-Amania is one of my favorite books. It's about a boy named Peter Hatcher. He is 12 years old, and lives in a apartment with his mom, dad, Mitzy (his youner sister) and his annoying little brother Fudge. His next door neighbor is a pain. Her name is Sheila. She is worse then just a pain, actually she's the biggest brat in the world. Well, at least thats what Peter thinks. I think that Judy Blume the author, was trying to tell you about real life. In this case it is everyday situations. I like this book a whole lot because it relates to me and my family, and it's really funny.

4.0 out of 5 stars Ode to the I.S.A.F Club, May 22, 2005
This review is from: Fudge-a-mania (Paperback)
Perhaps not everyone would associate Judy Blume's, "Fudge" series with F. Scott Fitzgerald's, "The Great Gatsby", but I have my reasons. Hear me out. If you'll recall, "The Great Gatsby" is about an incorrigible attention seeker (Gatsby) who's adventures are recorded by his faithful friend Nick Carraway. Everyone remembers Gatsby when they read the book. Few remember Nick. Now consider the fabulous, "Fudge" series. In some ways, it's the same thing. Our narrator is the constantly put-upon older brother Peter Hatcher. Pete's a perfect foil for his little brother, the irrepressible "Fudge" Farley Drexel Hatcher. And when you finish reading one of these books, what character do you end up remembering with crystal clear clarity? That's right. It's Fudge. Poor Peter not only has to deal with a little brother that's more of an attention hog than himself, he also has to deal with one that readers will remember better too.

In this particular Hatcher adventure, the family is going up to Maine for a couple weeks in the summer. Unfortunately for Peter, his bitter enemy the snobby Sheila Tubman's going to be there too. Worse still, Fudge has decided that he's going to marry Sheila. Peter's against this idea, and finds once they get to Maine that the situation is even direr than he first thought. Not only is Sheila there but she's basically sharing the house with Peter and his family. If he can only get his best friend Jimmy Fargo to come and stay with him, everything may turn out all right. Otherwise, he may have to deal with blueberry emergencies, Monster Spray, missing pet birds, and a serious first crush all on his own. It's gonna be a heckuva summer.

Blume has nicely aged her characters in this series, wisely deciding that a Fudge that grows up is far more interesting than a Fudge that stays 3-years-old all the time. So 5-year-old Fudge, while certainly an older version of the original little troublemaker, is definitely still the same kid. The book also marks Peter's foray into early adolescence. He develops a crush on a local teenager and has to deal with hiding the fact from his friends. And, this being Judy Blume, there are some amusingly suggestive sections that will fly right over kids' heads while creating knowing smiles in adult readers.

I believe that, "Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing" will always be the best Blume book ever conceived. But with witty sequels like, "Fudge-a-mania", I have few fears that Fudge's success will ever change him in a significant way. So let's raise a toast to a fine fun series. And let's not forget the importance of Peter too. Though he may just be the narrator, you just couldn't read about Fudge without him.

5.0 out of 5 stars kevin's review, May 17, 2005
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Fudge-a-mania (Paperback)
Fudge, but his real name is Farley, told his 1O year old brother Peter he was getting married tomorrow. "I'm getting married to Shela Tubman, "said Fudge. Shela was Peter's sworn enemy. The next morning Fudge said he would not be getting married today but in a month or so. Mrs. Hatcher said they would be going to Augusta, Maine! Shela and her family were coming, too! Peter does not like Shela because she is gross, she's the Coodie queen, and she is a girl. Why do I have to go, asked Peter? " We will be sharing the same house," said their mom. When they got there a skunk sprayed their dog. In a few weeks, Fudge met a girl named Mitsy. She has a book called All About Mitsy. Mitsy's grandpa was a famous baseball player. Shelia's grandpa and Fudge's grandma were getting married. Mitsy and Fudge brought the rings down the isle and spun around. The two kids never did end up getting married. Will Peter make it through the week? I highly recommend this book to all readers, because it is funny and suspenseful.
