Story In an alternate present, vast stretches of America have become no-go areas as the devastating effects of global warming ravage the continent. People turn to renewable energy in the face of the destruction caused by this catastrophe. But these danger zones have also become a playground for a new breed of racer. Vehicles FUEL features 70 different unlockable vehicles designed to support pick up and play arcade style fun. Each of these feature aggressive styling, unique performance and surface specific handling and can compete with each other no matter how or where they are united. The six different vehicle classes include: Bikes Bikes are fast, quick and easy to handle, but what they have in speed they lack in durability, so ride around trees, not into them. ATVs ATV's four wheels offer more stability than bikes and their size allows them to be able to sneak in very narrow spaces. Muscle Cars Muscle cars have enough speed and strength to face extreme conditions, making them a good choice for any kind of racer. SUVs Powerful, stout and durable, SUVs make up for their lack of speed with all the hit that they can take before breaking down. Buggies The smallest of cars and the easiest to handle, buggies are definitely fast, but durability can be an issue with them. Trucks The largest and strongest vehicles, trucks will not daze you with speed, but they'll knock you out for sure with power. Race Types and Challenges FUEL features a wealth of race types and challenges. Races include A2B Time Trials, Checkpoint Races, Circuit Races and Raid Races; while some of the additional challenges include 'Long Raids'--races that can last for hours--and 'Knock Out' events, which are checkpoint races where the last racer to cross the line is eliminated. Never Get Lost With GPs Each vehicle in the game comes equipped with a unique GPs system. Showing up on the game screen's heads-up display (HUD), arrows display a route that will take advantage of the distinctive capabilities of that vehicle, always indicating that fastest, most appropriate route. Race well and players are alerted to an extra route--one that is riskier, more hazardous--but potentially quicker. Of course, you can always choose to switch the GPs off and forge your own way through the wilderness. Sorry but this game is nothing i mean nothing like i thought. Though the graphics do look very good, and the environments are impressive heres the problem. There are no psychics, the vehicles sound horrible, there is nearly no way to wreck, and the races are just plain boring. I figured with tornadoes chasing you and rain and snow etc the game would be pretty chaotic well i was wrong on all levels. Pick up both motorstorms if you want some real fun, action packed destructive racing. I will also say that even MX vs ATV is a lot better game than this. At least when you hit something your rider goes flying off the bike, or through the sky. The 15,000 sq miles of land can't even save this stinker of a game. What a disappointment.

For me, personally, I love open world games and when I found out about this game and how big the map was I hade to rent it. I've played it for about 3 hours now and I am simply amazed. My only complaint is that when you run into trees, thay are like running into a giant boulders; they don't budge. Other than that, the type of environments are incredible, especially with sunrises and sunsets. Canyons, mountains, forests, deserts, oceans, lakes, and more. If you see it, you can go to it! It took me about 30-40 minutes just to drive up the side of the moutain they have in the game (Rainier moutain). You will race on all types of terrains with some races letting you decide how you finish.
If you like structured racing games though, like dirt 2 or other racomg games like that you will be disapointed. Much paitence is requierd in this game. You have a great selection of vehicles, but only can modify the colors on them.
I love this game, but most gamers need more excitement. To sum it all up, this game is like flight simulator, but only with cars and not plains. I wish you could have a plain in this game though. You are able to telaport to different points on the map as the game progresses.

Fuel had a chance to be great. A post apocalyptic type setting, with a HUGE open game world you could drive anywhere, do any race you wanted. The problem was it was just not put together quite right. All the pieces just didn't feel like they fit perfectly. When I was out in the open world driving, not doing any particular race it was awesome. Freeing. Problem is you can only drive around pointlessly for so long before you're brain falls asleep. The races were somewhat challenging and I loved the game overall. Just seems like it could've been polished a bit more prior to releasing. If you catch it at a decent price it's definitely worth picking up but not at full price in my opinion.
