Sorry but this game is nothing i mean nothing like i thought. Though the graphics do look very good, and the environments are impressive heres the problem. There are no psychics, the vehicles sound horrible, there is nearly no way to wreck, and the races are just plain boring. I figured with tornadoes chasing you and rain and snow etc the game would be pretty chaotic well i was wrong on all levels. Pick up both motorstorms if you want some real fun, action packed destructive racing. I will also say that even MX vs ATV is a lot better game than this. At least when you hit something your rider goes flying off the bike, or through the sky. The 15,000 sq miles of land can't even save this stinker of a game. What a disappointment.

For me, personally, I love open world games and when I found out about this game and how big the map was I hade to rent it. I've played it for about 3 hours now and I am simply amazed. My only complaint is that when you run into trees, thay are like running into a giant boulders; they don't budge. Other than that, the type of environments are incredible, especially with sunrises and sunsets. Canyons, mountains, forests, deserts, oceans, lakes, and more. If you see it, you can go to it! It took me about 30-40 minutes just to drive up the side of the moutain they have in the game (Rainier moutain). You will race on all types of terrains with some races letting you decide how you finish.
If you like structured racing games though, like dirt 2 or other racomg games like that you will be disapointed. Much paitence is requierd in this game. You have a great selection of vehicles, but only can modify the colors on them. I love this game, but most gamers need more excitement. To sum it all up, this game is like flight simulator, but only with cars and not plains. I wish you could have a plain in this game though. You are able to telaport to different points on the map as the game progresses.

Fuel had a chance to be great. A post apocalyptic type setting, with a HUGE open game world you could drive anywhere, do any race you wanted. The problem was it was just not put together quite right. All the pieces just didn't feel like they fit perfectly. When I was out in the open world driving, not doing any particular race it was awesome. Freeing. Problem is you can only drive around pointlessly for so long before you're brain falls asleep. The races were somewhat challenging and I loved the game overall. Just seems like it could've been polished a bit more prior to releasing. If you catch it at a decent price it's definitely worth picking up but not at full price in my opinion.

Muscle cars, bikes, quad bikes, dune buggies, and monster trucks all racing? Sounds like just another racing title. But wait... It's got 5,000 square miles of open wilderness!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fuel is a new racing game with 5,000 square miles of open world to explore, more than 200 events, and around 75 vehicles to drive. Does the huge open world and sheer amount of content enough to recommend this game, or are there better racing titles out there?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Story: There is no real story to the game. It does have a setting, which is a futuristic wasteland devastated by global warming. But there is no real plot, or characters, or plot twists of any kind. I'm not counting the plot to the final score. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Graphics: The in-game graphics engine is great. Cars are very detailed, and considering the immense size of the open world, the environments look amazing. But there is a lot of pop-in, and occasionaly (especially at night) you can see the white dots that make up the worlds render. But other than that, the graphics are impressive, though there are some better looking racing games on the market. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Audio: The in-game audio is pretty impressive. The music (made up of rather generic guitar wanging) is decent, though it may be a bit annoying to some. Luckily there is no licensed music, except for the main theme song. Some people may prefer licensed music, though I don't. Whenever there is a racing game with licensed music, the developers always mess up and pick the worst music possible - just look at Burnout Paradise. So I'm glad Codemasters stuck with instrumental music instead of licensed music. The engine noise is also superb. I do have one gripe, though. Sometimes a muscle car going at 100 mph sounds more like a lawn-mower going at 100 mph. This noise used for engine noises doesn't sound as much like a car engine as I'd like. But the engine noises aren't the worst I've ever heard. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Gameplay: The gameplay is pretty much like your regular open world driving game, only there are some interesting new types of races never seen in the racing genre. But first, let me talk about the open world. The world is split into 19 camps, with career races and challenges in each one. You can drive around in any vehicle you like and explore the world, collecting liveries, vista points, and maverick vehicles. Liveries give you a new coat of paint for one of your vehicles, while vista points give you a breathtaking view of the world. Maverick vehicles are upgraded vehicles driving around the open world that you can collect. And there are also dopplar trucks. If you hunt down, for example, a livery dopplar truck, all of the liveries in that camp appear on your map, so you don't have to actually try to find them - you just have to follow you map to collect them. There are also the races and challenges. There is a big variety of races: Checkpoint, Wild Track, Knock Out, Raid, Endurance, Seek n' Destroy, and a few others. And here I come to another gripe about the game - some of the races are boring. Now, there are the races where a tornado rages across the track, but some of the other races are simple races where you race along an asphalt road with absolutely no cool weather effects involved. These races aren't neccesarily boring, they just pale in comparison to the other races. There is also a wierd setup on how you select races. There are events scattered across the landscape, but there is an option to pick an event from the menu. This brings about the question - what's the point of driving five miles straight to get to an event if there is an option to choose it out of a menu? This is not neccesarily a flaw, just a wierd setup that I'm just throwing out there. It may sound like I hate this game, but I don't. I've actually greatly enjoyed this game ever since purchase. It's flat-out addicting to collect the collectibles in the wilderness, and some of the races are fun. But there is another flaw - the AI. Let's say you get in a race and the AI is really easy. You win the race by miles. Then you go to another race, and the AI owns the road, and they pass you with ease. It seems like the AI in this game is collecting all the bad types of bad racing AI from other arcade racers. There is plain dumb AI. Really smart AI. Rubberbanding AI. Again, I don't mean to make you think that I hate this game. It is one of the best racing games I own. But these flaws bring down the overall score of the game. Don't let these flaws turn you off about this game, however. I highly recommend this game to any fan of arcade racing. There is an online racing componet to the game as well, but for some reason, no one is playing online. Not that this is a big problem, since the offline componet is hard not to recommend. But with no one online, it'll be hard to collect some of the achievements that involve partaking in X number of online races, or completing X online races in first. But still, if you have a few friends willing to play with you, then this isn't a big problem. Overall, the gameplay may not be as good as other racing games on the market, but if you're looking for another racing title, come no further. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lasting Appeal: This is by far the best part of the game. There is simply so much to do in this game. This game will easily last you years, even after you beat the game. With 75 career races to partake in, 190 challenges to beat, and hundreds over collectibles, you will be hooked on this game. Although it lacks the polish of Burnout Paradise and the exciting races of Split/Second, it has something that other racing games have failed to accomplish - a deep and engaging open world with a HUGE amount of content. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Overall: If you're looking for a racing title with a huge amount of content that'll last you years, a huge amount of collectibles, a selection of vehicles that rivals Motorstorm, and fine graphics and audio, come no further. Fuel is a game that any racing fan should look into. The following is a rating system. It is on an out of 10 scale. Story: N/A Graphics: 8.5 Audio: 8.5 Gameplay: 8.0 Lasting Appeal: 9.5 Overall Score: 8.5 or 4 1/4 stars

I gave this one try and got seasick, but that's just me. My son said that he really likes this game and it kept him busy a lot this winter. While there are more popular games that pulled his attention, he did come back to fuel over and over, so it was worth the investment. He said he would give it five stars and I though it was a little limited as games go today, so we agreed on four.

aren't you tired of playing games were you reach the end of the boundaries and can only look out to the vast world beyond and never know what is out there...... well FUEL has no boundaries pick your favorite set of wheels and ride of into the sunset tackling lite rain storms to blazing hurricanes and sand storms. Choose from a rich selection of more than 70 cars and go to the beach, mountains, forest, desert, salt flats, canyons and burning forests you even mite find a city buried from a sand storm or hit by a fierce earth quake and flood. choose from a wide selection of customization from helmets, shirts.pants and cool colors and visuals to turn that hunk into a hot rod. The music is dull and depressing but turn down the in game music and get out those speakers and sub woofer and blast your favorite music! This game is so good that if you start you cant stop the fun never ends!! so what are you waiting for! go pick up a copy at your local game store or get over night shipping! LET THE FUN BEGIN!!!!

DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE!!!!!
I spent 3 days trying to find this game to rent, & now I honestly wish I hadn't..... The huge map is cool, some of the vehicles are cool..... But they handle like garbage, the gps doesn't work right most of the time, the weather effects are unrealistic & annoying because all they really do is make it hard to see what you're doing.... To make a long story short..... Don't bother, unless you're a die hard fan of the 4x4 evo series (with it's lack of good camera angles) This is a game that irritates more than addicts. Within the first ten minutes of playing, I wanted to throw my controller across the room, due to UTTERLY RIDICULOUS loading times!!!! Takes almost a full minute on the loading screen to bring up any race or location..... I can see why it was late coming out; It needs about 5 more years of development..... Hey Codemasters..... What is this? You come out with games like Dirt & Grid, & then you jump in a time machine & go back to 1999 to design this steaming pile? THIS HAS SO BEEN DONE..... BY EVERYONE!!!! DESIGN SOMETHING NEW!!!!! OR AT LEAST NEWER THAN THIS!!!!

Great graphics, fun gameplay, amazing atmosphere, MASSIVE size, vareity in areas, and good customization make this game really good. You can either explore the thousands of miles this game has to offer (yes thousands) or do the races, both of which are very fun. Only complaints with the game are some pop ups, the gps can be kinda weird and point in wrong direction and sometimes certain vehicles dont go so fast. Overall this game is a buy, will last you a LONG time!

I'm glad I didn't read all these reviews before I bought this game at BestBuy (for $12 LOL)
Boy, most of these reviews are comparing this video game to other games they like. Talk about living inside a box. This game has very beautiful scenery. I have only played it for about 4 hours and the map is so big, and I mean so big. I have been playing it mostly in Free Ride mode and I love it. You get to drive at night, and see the dawn, beautiful dawn. The graphics, I can't stress this enough, are beautiful. The physics are very realistic, and if you hit something the wrong way you basically "die". But you restart the game at the same place. The only thing this game lacks is the "damage" you get in other games such as err, Motorstorm. The soundtrack in the game is great. Not that cliché death metal other games have or gangsta rap, but an instrumental rock music. I'll be updating this review as I go along. Get this freaking game, and don't you listen to the haters which want something identical to Motorstorm, err, they should probably wait until the next Motorstorm then. Edit: After a week of playing, I have to say this is one of the most detailed games I EVER played. The only one that comes close is Bioshock . Each plant in the HUGE maps seems to be individually put there with the utmost detail. Every ridge, dune, river seems to be that way also. Wow. I can't believe people were so dismissing in their reviews.
