The Wachusett Belt by FuelBelt is a great hydration solution for runners putting serious miles in. The bottles are held VERY securely, which to me is a pro and a con.

TIP: wear it LOW on your hips and strap it TIGHT - feels great like that.

Pros:
- The belt is adjustable to fit most waist sizes
- Half of the belt is stretchy which makes it stay put better while running
- Water bottles are positioned nicely (for me)
- Water bottles are very snug

Cons:
- Pouch could be bigger - you're maxing it out with 3 gel packs
- Water bottles are perhaps too snug

The last water belt I used had the single large water bottle sitting diagonally across my low back/upper butt. It did not have an elastic belt so it was hard to keep it from bouncing. The bouncing caused the water bottle to inch out of the case. With the FuelBelt you definitely do not have that problem, but to free a water bottle I have to use 2 hands: one to hold the belt down and the other to YANK the thing free. I like knowing that the bottles aren't going ANYWHERE, but it is a bit excessive I think. (There just has to be a happy medium!) I think they use the same size elastic enclosures regardless of whether you buy the version with 8oz bottles or the 10oz - that would make sense...

I thought people were understating the size of the pouch, well I should know better than to doubt the Amazon reviewers! The pouch is quite small. I have a PDA cell phone which dominates the space leaving almost no room for a gel (luckily I have a smaller phone I can put my SIM into). Without the phone 2 gels fit comfortably, 3 is a squeeze. There is a separate flat area in the pouch for ID and I stuff some moleskin strips in there as well.

A note on the negative reviews:
- "Won't stay in place"
Adjust it like I said and it will not move on you - and it feels great to have it tight and low while you run (Also, it sounds like she actually bought the 10k 2-bottle belt, which does not have adjustable straps...)

- "Broke in the middle of a long run!"
The belt I received is VERY high quality, there's no way it's breaking on a run, she must have received a defective product or is reviewing a different belt as well...

Won't stay in place February 2, 2008
I bought one of these Fuelbelts from a local running store last spring because my long runs were hitting the 10+ mile point and it was warming up so I needed to be able to take fluid with me. Fuelbelts run very small - I have a 26 inch waist and 32 inch hips and the Small was too tight so I ended up going with a Medium. The Medium fit just fine as long as I wasn't actually moving. Once I started to run, it would shift until it was around my waist and completely loose. So the first 3 or 4 miles I'd have to slow or stop to readjust the Fuelbelt. Very irritating. It would stay in place once I got sweaty enough. I have heard that many women have had the same problem with the Fuelbelt so I am wondering if it is made more for men. This spring and summer the Fuelbelt will be retired and I am going to try one of the hand held flasks. Hopefully I will have better luck that.

Pretty good January 4, 2007
Belt is adjustable, quite comfortable. Nicely designed pouch holds keys etc. without rattling. Bottle shape and position is good. Comfortable while running. Straps hold the bottles securely but I've found it takes two hands to get it back in. Only complaint in the bottles is the pull-tops don't stay open for me. I have to hold the bottle open with my teeth while trying to drink. Could be just the ones I got. Bottle opening is large enough for your basic ice cube. I'm not sorry I bought it. Nice for the longer runs. Better than the big 20oz bottle holders.

Good, but takes some getting used to.
This seems to be a well sorted waterbelt. I have a 32" waist and it fits me fine. It seems like it would adjust to fit somewhere between a 27" and 40" waist. Read more

Works okay
Bottles are a good size, and the pouch is adequate for holding gel packs for the longer runs.

The elastic holsters for the bottles are quite tight, which makes slipping... Read more
