Product Description

As the number one hydration belt in the world, Helium has been put to the test at some of the toughest endurance events around. Craig Alexander placed first overall at the 2008 Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii with his Helium 2-Bottle Belt. In fact, four out of the top five men used Helium, which says a lot about how the design performs under extreme conditions. You won’t find a more proven hydration belt than Helium.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fuel Belt - great product, December 14, 2008
By
Texas Turtle (Houston, TX USA) - See all my reviews
I purchased the fuel belt because I was training for a marathon. I did a little research online and decided that this was the best one to go with. I was between the sizes medium and large. I went with the medium, and found it was the right decision. The belt will stretch a little especially when you have the waterbottles filled with water. I was a little disappointed with the seal of the waterbottles. If you fill them full and then go running some water will leak, which results in you getting little wet spots on your shirt or shorts. I just don't fill the waterbottles past 6 1/2 oz. or so and it seemed to solve the problem. Also the zipper pouch is smaller than I thought it would be. I really wanted to put my cell phone in it, but it is too small. I have a (T-Mobile) Samsung T339 and it is barely too big to get the zipper to zip shut. The belt is very comfortable and the straps for the waterbottles are very secure. Other than than the pouch being smaller than I anticipated, and weak seal on the waterbottles - I love it!

This belt is worth every penny you'll spend on it. If you're like me, and hate carrying stuff in your hands while running, you'll love this belt! I was very worried that I'd end up with a loose fitting, sloshy mess around my waste, but I was happily mistaken. The belt fit snuggly with zero movement. I took it out for a 15 mile run and was amazed at how comfortable the belt was...forgot it was there after a very short time. I also expected it to leak...it didn't! A minor negative is the pouch...it's zippered which makes it a bit tricky to get into while runnning...and it's small so it doesn't hold much (3 gel packs). I bought a medium sized fuelbelt neopouch to hold my phone, i.d. and key at the same time. I'll be buying another medium neopouch to give me the room for all the goodies I like to take on my long runs. The small zipper pouch will be good for my keys and i.d...maybe even my phone if it'll fit. The two medium pouches will be used for gels, beans, etc. The neopouches are closed by velcro, so access is simple. The belt has plenty of room for all three pouches...or expandable for additional bottles if you'd like. Anything longer than 15 miles, I think six bottles will be a must (personal pref). If you're wavering on buying this belt, don't! You won't be disappointed. ENJOY!

2.0 out of 5 stars Interferes w/ arm swing & pouch not accessible while running, November 18, 2009
This review is from: FuelBelt Helium 4 Bottle Belt (Sports)
I tried the Fuel Belt, Nathan Belt, and Amphipod in a store before choosing the Amphipod belt.

The Nathan Belt had the most comfortable elastic band, and the bottles were easy to remove and place onto the belt. However, I didn't like the placement of the bottles as the front bottles interferred with my arm swing (on the 4-bottle belt). Even if you remove the front two bottles, the cup holster still got in my way. With the 2-bottle belt, it rode comfortably on my backside, but I couldn't reach the pouch to grab jelly bellies and goo on the run. With the bottles in front, I ran into the problem of my arms swinging into the bottles again.

The Fuel Belt was comfy, but not as comfy as the Nathan. Had the same problem as the Nathan in terms of arms hitting the bottles and not being able to access the pouch when it's situated on my back. Additional disadvantage of the Fuel Belt is that it takes two hands to place the bottles back in the holster. Also, I seem to fall between sizes where the small was too small and the medium too large.

I ended up purchasing the Amphipod b/c of its flexibility. I'm 5'3", 110 lb. Although it took a few tries to figure out how to configure the belt, I finally got it so that the bottles would stay out of the way and I could still reach the pouch to grab my jelly bellies on the run. I wish I could run with the belt on my hips, but it's much more comfortable on my waist. With it on my hips, even though I tightened it completely, it had a tendency of riding up b/c of the movement of my legs or when removing the bottles. Additionally, you could feel the weight of the bottles bouncing more with the belt around my hips (especially in the rear!). Around my waist, the rear bottles sat comfortably on the small of my back (sideways to minimize sloshing). I found that the belt stayed in place as long as I wore it just tight enough to wrap comfortably around my waist. It didn't move much b/c it naturally sat in the curve of my waist (and I don't have curves!), so I didn't feel constricted at all. It takes a little getting used to, but it's not uncomfortable at all.

Some people mentioned that it was hard to snap the bottles in and out. I found this to be extremely convenient since you can access the bottles with just one hand, allowing your other arm to maintain its swing. It takes a little practice to get the feel for it, but it was very easy to remove and replace the bottles in the holster. If you're unsure, just jiggle the bottle slightly to make sure it's locked in place. Again, you can do this all with one hand, unlike with the Fuel Belt. Overall I'm happy with my purchase. I wish the belt part was as comfortable as the Nathan belt, but I need the adjustability factor due to my petite frame. Hope this helps!
