Product Description

These easy to use fuel gauges are pre-calibrated to ensure that you always know how much useable fuel you have on board. To use simply insert the gauge into each tank until it touches the bottom. Place your finger securely over the top opening and remove to read fuel quantity from the gauge.

Top Customer Reviews

The fuel in aircraft is listed as "total fuel" and "usable fuel". The "Unusable fuel" is the fuel that remains in the tanks and fuel lines. This is fuel that is UNAVAILABLE in flight. This means that your engine will cease working if your fuel level falls under that amount. That might ruin your day, your passenger's day, and it might also ruin your aircraft. Depending on the aircraft make and model, this "unusable fuel" can be up to SEVERAL gallons! In the specific case of the Cessna 172, each wing holds 28 gallons of fuel, but only 26 gallons of it is USABLE, and that is what the FuelHawk measures. I run a flight school in Omaha, Nebraska, and all our students are required to use one of these before EACH flight.

I fly a 172SP with 28 gallon tanks, but whatever, this is close enough and will always under estimate the fuel I have slightly, which seems safer. I can't find a 28 gallon version anywhere.

Didn't work. Doesn't actually show accurate fuel amounts for 26 gal tanks as advertised. Under reads by 8-20 gals.

Tired of spending time looking for the flying club's fuel gauge/dipstick in the Cessna...bring your own.
