DAF are BACK!, April 5, 2003

DAF (Deutsch Amerikanische Freundschaft) from Dusseldorf, Germany reformed in 2002 and recorded this new release in October of that year in Berlin.
Hugely influential, they're a classic band of the 1980 to 83 period in my opinion. Fans of Suicide, Kraftwerk and Depeche Mode will probably like them. An electronic two piece, so if you like some of that genre and don't know DAF already, then check them out.
When bands reform their new releases can sometimes be a huge let down but the new DAF cd, "Funfzehn Neue DAF Lieder" is tremendous. It's out on Universal in Germany. It's up there with their early 80s classics like "Gold und Liebe", "Fur Immer" and "Alles ist Gut". Stand out tracks are the single "Der Sherrif" and "Ich bin morgen wieder da" but all 15 tracks are really strong.

Finally an album with the typical d.a.f. sound is back again! After years of absence, due to solo works from gabi and robert, they seemed to found each other again. On April-03 they are "touring" germany with this new album "funfzehn neue DAF lieder"(fifteen new daf songs). The album starts with the single "der sheriff" which is a beautiful manifest of what daf`s music is all about. Gabi`s talk songs in german connected with robert`s simple but powerfully darkened electronics, makes this a brilliant track in every way! On the single there is some more versions of this track, you had to love at least one of them...or all! The next,"ich bin tot,das ist gut" is another great track.every song has it`s own theme attached to it, ex.love song,war song,etc. The track "kinderzimmer" is about,when you as a youngster have childhood heroes glued to your walls into your room,in this case "baader\meinhof"! All the tracks are special in their own way,if you know daf,you will know! "ich bin morgen wieder da" is a track that you can feel the emotions!!magnificent...again.Robert Gorl & Gabi Delgado Lopez are back again!!
