Review

Samantha Martin and Nathan Hamilton knew from childhood they would marry. But when the Civil War took away their families and homes, their dreams were destroyed as well. Samantha's faith in God and her love for Nathan sustain her through the six years of their separation. But can they withstand the test of Nathan's return? The man of her dreams has been replaced by a hard, bitter outlaw with a price on his head. Nathan accepts Samantha's love, but on his terms. The price is more than her heart is willing to pay. Nathan must face the demons that haunt him, and step from darkness to light before his heart can match the strength of Samantha's love. But will a hangman's noose end their hopes forever? Jane Orcutt has created a memorable tale with a pair of strong passionate characters faced with a seemingly impossible situation. Samantha's faith is as natural to her as her skin and enhances the romance. The Fugitive Heart carries the reader at a fast clip to the sweet conclusion! Orcutt weaves a masterful tale! 5.0 out of 5 stars I really enjoyed this fast paced, action filled romance, May 11, 1999
By A Customer
I enjoyed this book so much that I read it in one day. It was a good story line with very interesting and likeable characters. I started on the sequel as soon as I finished reading it. The Christian theme was strong and very present throughout the book. One of the best messages I got from reading this book is that no matter how hard we try to change someone or something, we need to give it to God for He is the one who is ultimately in control.

5.0 out of 5 stars A True Portrait of a Christian's Struggles, February 12, 2000

What a great read! The first book I've read by Jane Orcutt and she needs to keep up the good work! She has talent and really portray's that not everything goes "right" even when you're a Christian. What a great example of God's love for us and forgivness no matter how much wrong we have done and how bad we think we are. A great romance also! A breath of fresh air in the inspirational section of fiction writing! Worth your time.

How often do we try to play God instead of living God to lead others to Him? We can all learn from this enjoyable, gripping read!
