4.0 out of 5 stars Very useful, only one drawback
A very cool little device, this gives you an expandable flash USB stick - I guess you can use up to and including the new 512 MB cards with this device. I use with only 256 MB at the moment :-(
I have tried on Win98, 2k, XP and Linux, the former you will need to install a driver, but it works as standard USB mass storage, so no special driver is needed for...

3.0 out of 5 stars Portablity is it's greatest asset
This xD card reader is a nice small portable device for copying data to and from. However, if you have more than one type of memory card in the house I would suggest a multi-card reader.

If you don't have xD cards, then look into them they are tiny and perfect for devices like this. I can't wait for an xD based personal stereo. My one gripe about this particular device is that the cap does not fit very well, leaving me to wonder how dust proof it is. I won't be keeping it in my pocket because of that, but will carry it around in my laptop bag. It would be nice if it was USB 2 too, for the larger cards.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great little device!!, December 29, 2004

This reader works exactly as described. I use it with my Olympus camera 256 mb xD card. The only complaint I have matches the other reviewer - the cap does not fit well. I also would not carry it in my pocket but it stays in my bag with the camera and I can use it anywhere there is a computer with a USB connection. Since my camera is always with me, having the reader instead of a cord works great! I highly recommend this device.

5.0 out of 5 stars Does the job simply and right !, July 7, 2005
This review is from: Fujifilm DPC-UD1 xD USB Drive Reader (Personal Computers)
This Fuji xD card reader takes a simple task and does it flawlessley. It's ergonomics are excellent -- no guessing about where to put the card, or which way. It simply works without any questions or hassles.

4.0 out of 5 stars Love it.., March 30, 2005

I do love this little piece of convenience. Easy/fast/compact.. I also have a gripe with the fact that the cover piece doesn't stay on very well. I keep mine in a location with little worry for dust or grime- so no real issues for me! But it is the only drawback I really see. Makes a great conversation piece with its clear body- my friends love to comment on it.. they think I'm so high tech :]

I ordered this little Fuji xD USB drive reader based on some recommendations that it's better than buying an A/C adapter and downloading from your camera. Boy were they right! The A/C adapter would have cost twice the price of this neat little gadget, and it would have required all that power use from the camera. I had this thing out of the package and downloading pics in a matter of about two minutes. It is a piece of cake to use. I have had it for about a week and love everything about it so far. I do see what other reviewers said about the plastic cover not being fully sealed/closed around the device, but mine stays on securely and I keep the reader inside a small zippered pocket of my camera bag. I think it will be fine.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very cool, August 9, 2005
This review is from: Fujifilm DPC-UD1 xD USB Drive Reader (Personal Computers)
This item is great for simple drag and drop onto other people's computers without having to worry about installing software or anything like that. Worked on a mac flawlessly as well. Very cool looking and also very handy for switching from one card to another if you use two XD cards a lot like we do (one 128 and one 256).

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Handy Gadget, August 8, 2005

This works great with Windows XP for me. Much easier than having to read a card still in the camera. I also have a DPC - R1 Fine Pix USB Image Memory Card Reader, but that one also reads SmartMedia and is therefore much larger. This is the size of a regular USB flash drive (and you can use it as a USB flash drive as well with an XD card inserted...nice dual use for this device). I agree with others who said the cap could have been made to be a little more snug fit. Cool see through look though.
