I love this camera. I have long been a Fuji fan; however, was greatly disappointed with the model I bought before this. I tried to switch to a Canon but was not satisfied with the quality of the photos. After purchasing this camera, we went to Hawaii. I took over 2400 photos and printed over 300 of them (only the best, you know). I had some enlarged to 30" X 22" and have them hanging in my office. People view these photos with awe. I also used the panorama setting and took some amazing panorama photos as well as videos. Fuji, you won back my loyalty.

I have had this camera for several months now, I wanted to run it through the paces before posting a review. I have always bought Canon point and shoot's until now, but I have been increasingly disappointed with the quality of the photos, especially on cloudy days and low light settings like dusk. I love taking high quality beautiful photos, but I have never taken the time to learn how to take great pictures. I expect the camera to do all the work, whether it is shooting people, landscapes, macro mode, or the model number off the cable box. In the past, Canons always did that for me. I was getting frustrated, and so I went in search of a new camera. I went to the electronics store and was helped by an extremely avid photographer who went through the different brands in great detail, answering every question I threw at him. In the end, I narrowed it to the Panasonic Lumix line and this Fujifilm camera. I cannot vouch for all Fujifilm cameras, but this one I can fully recommend. (The sales person in the store also said that this model was a significant improvement to the previous one, which had disappointed many Fuji camera lovers. In generally he recommended the Panasonic Lumix line or some of the Sony Cybershots)

Although it is a point and shoot, I believe it has the quality of a SLR. Colors always come out vibrantly, in any light settings. The photos are sharp without any fuzziness or blurriness. I always keep it in EXR (auto) mode, but I have played around with Panorama and multiple photo mode, and been extremely pleased with the results. I have taken this to the mountains for skiing, to the beach, to the hills, around the house, it never disappoints. The HD video mode is also excellent - one of the best I have seen on a digicam.

We have used this camera with great pleasure for about 4 months, taking wonderful pictures of our infant daughter. It has been easy to use, despite its quirks (going in and out of the video can be more user friendly), in general, and we especially enjoyed its extensive zoom capability, and its impressive red color! All this until its flash mode selector started failing. Over the past couple of days, we are stuck at the "no-flash" mode, as the flash sign with a bar across it. Even in an almost completely dark room, the flash would not come on, since we cannot set it at the "auto" mode again. Resetting the camera did not change anything. This is our first Fujifilm camera. We had never had such mechanical problems with the numerous Canons or Nikons we had used in the past.

We first looked at our past orders screen at Amazon. Even though it has been more than 4 months since the purchase, there was an active "return item" button. When we tried it, we were led to speak to Amazon customer service. After trying to connect for several minutes, a customer service representative stated that we had to speak to the actual seller, Abes of Maine Cameras and Electronics. Made sense, except for two 'customer unfriendliness' points for Amazon: First, if Amazon would not do anything, why keep a live "return item" button, that connects to Amazon customer service at my expense of at least 10 minutes? Second, the Amazon representative with a heavy accent on the phone gave us the contact number for Abes of Maine Cameras and Electronics as "800-992-223-7257"! When we pointed to him that there were too many digits for a phone number, he responded "that's what's listed".

I've had this camera for only about three weeks, and have not yet put it completely through its paces, but I have few complaints.

It is extremely powerful, fairly easy to use, and meets or exceeds all of my expectations.

Picture quality is IMO very good. The camera works well in low light, providing me with better images than my eyes do, without flash. The video qaulity is also good.

The only negative to date is that the autofocus on large numbers of moving objects tends to produce blurry images (I took pictures of thousands of bats emerging from a cave, and the images were not that clear). I don't thin k this is really that big of a deal, since I rarely take piotures of this type.

I have not yet tried all of the myriad of features, but it works well in full auto mode, which is what I'll use most of the time, and until I learn about the camera.

To me the two biggest negatives is that it does not have an optical viewfinder - but no camera in this size range does - and the fact that there are hundreds of features that are accessed by seven buttons, which means I need to carry a 200 page manual until I learn and remember everything this thing does. Perhaps that's a comment on me rather than the camera.
On the positive, it fits in my shirt pocket, and with the two 32GB cards I've bought, can fit an entire vacation of stills and videos without requiring me to take a computer along.

Overall, I couldn't be happier.
