I bought this camera on a recent trip to Florida and so far, I like it quite a bit.

Cons after a couple of months of use:

1. No lens cap/closure. This means that almost every time I reach into my pocket/camera bag or whatever to take it out, I get greasy fingerprints on the glass in front of the lens unless I am being extra careful.

2. I don't like the fact that I have to enter the menu constantly to adjust settings. I am used to shooting on a DSLR and I like to take control of the way my camera is handling pictures. The menu in this camera is complicated enough as to make this unrealistic. this is a minor problem, though, considering that this is realyl intended to be a point and shoot camera, and not some fancy-pants artistic/professional camera.

I bought this camera for the water protection part only and it fulfills all my water expectations, great pictures and great videos. Only negative thing I have is the battery live which seems to be short.

I bought this camera for a trip to the coral reefs of the FLorida Keys. I shot many pics and videos and have to say that most of them came out very well. I really do like the digital video feature. I zoomed in and out while underwater and have a couple of videos that are up to 2 minutes in length. Two other people on our trip also had the same XP50 and one had an XP30. By the end of the trip all of our cameras began to show condensation under the back monitor screen; the XP30 was in the poorest shape - it also had condensation around the lens. My thought is that its door locking system isn't quite as tight as the XP50. I would also be willing to believe you cannot go even near the 16' limit recommended by the makers. WHen snorkelling, it is a little tough to make out good detail on the monitor. After each trip, I washed it with soap and water to get the salt and sunscreen off of it and it shined and looked like new each time. Another friend used an Olympus and he reported no problems above or below the water. His Olympus was in the $300 range. Also, with the price of the XP50 and the amount of pics and vids I took, with a discount, its not bad but you know it will not last very long. Now I have digitals that I can manipulate any way I choose, rather than hard copies and negatives. Think about it, using 6 disposables along with their developing you have already wrapped up $120-130. All-in-all, buying this camera is a 50/50 shot that it will work more than a week or two under heavy useage. I liked the pics and vids but do not trust its longevity.

I always read the reviews, both positive and negative, before making a decision to purchase a product. I had read the negative reviews on this product but the deal was so good I decided to purchase anyway. I figured with a one year warranty I would be okay. This product worked once! After paying $10.00 to return to Fuji warranty department I was told the issue was a bent pin and was not covered under warranty and the repair would cost more than the camera!

Image quality is so-so, but you get the weather/water proof feature.
I needed that feature - lots of outdoor use in wet conditions, so am satisfied with the images.

Images tend to be soft due to the over use of noise reduction. Fine detail is lacking, and the images take on a fairly "painted" look when examined at higher magnification.

All the small cameras, similar to this one... do that. You just have to choose features or image. I chose features, and no complaints except for image quality.

This is the worst point and shoot camera I have ever had. I previously had a Canon Powershot and loved it, you could take pictures anywhere on auto and the pictures were clean and clear. This Fuji doesn't take action shots, night time shots or pictures in low light even if you take it off of auto and set it in the correct mode. I've wasted a whole six months of my life trying to play with the camera instead of taking pictures of my kids birthdays, vacations, etc. I do not recommend this camera if you are like me with 4 kids and not alot of time to put into your camera and how it works.

Love this camera! I have not tested out the water feature yet, but I no longer need to worry about the camera getting splashed by the kids at the lake house. Pics turn out great and good quality. It is quick to take pics and has the best night quality pics than any camera I have ever owned.

Fuji XP50 is not a very good camera. Pictures not of good quality and blurry. When in video mode, the camera does not re-focus when you zoom in or out...only stays on the same focus where you started. Underwater screen is difficult to see....it's like a huge airpocket that you just see white/silver but not the screen with the image you are looking at.

I do not recommend this camera.

This camera was bought for my daughter who takes hikes with her class once a week and also goes on 2 over night trips. She absolutley loves this camera, she takes pictures under water (which I think is pretty cool) and whether its hot or cold this camera takes wonderful pictures. I don't think I would buy another camera besides this one ever again. I bought a $450.00 camera that did all this stuff and her camera that was a forth of what I paid does more and takes better pics.
